I've had a boil for over 2 months inner inner thigh. Grows, recedes a bit, grows more etc; never comes to a head. Exercising daily. Purplish in colour?
See a phyisician: Could be folliculitis, which could be constantly irritated with your daily exercise--i would start with topical antibiotic and a bandaid. Also, change your exercise habits for a bit to reduce the friction between the legs (for instance, biking might be better than running). If it does not get any better, see a physician--may need oral antibiotics, or it could be more than just a boil. ...Read more

Depends on how long: It really depends on how long it has been there. It could be a boil (abscess) but that's usually painful and becomes red and hard then soft and may burst on its own. It could be a number of things. One would really need to look at it to say what it is. Go to an urgent care or your primary doc to get it checked out ...Read more

Abscess: Likely. Need to examine in order to determine that, but that is most likely. See a doctor in the next couple of days (preferably within 24 hours). This is not a complaint that requires going to an E.R. Urgent care would be preferred if you couldn't get into your regular primary care physician. ...Read more
Liquefaction: If you had a boil and now it appears to have blood inside, it's quite possible the germs have caused some localized liquefaction or damage to the tissues. I wonder also if you may have squeezed it and caused some localized trauma. These boils can become worse, so you may need to see a doctor for that to get some antibiotics and or surgical (lancing) treatment. Staph causes alot of these BTW. ...Read more
Tissue destruction: When you have a small, localized infection like that -a real 'war' is going on-between the germs and your immune system. That's why there's such an inflammatory reaction. If a small 'hole' exists after you expressed pus-which is made up of dead immune cells and germs- don't worry. This will 'fill in' naturally via the body's healing process (granulation). If it's really painful/sore, show a doctor ...Read more

I have two boils next to each other that have turned dark purple and are extremely painful. Does the change in color mean it is getting better or wors?
Not good: If you have 2 large boils you should see your local provider and have these treated. Then you should have some treatment. Apply warm compresses and see your provider. I hope this helps and good luck. ...Read more
What to do I break out with boils I gusse they are if I squeez them the will turn purple and red then I pop it and grren stuff comes out I got 9scars from this what is this
Hello.: Hello. It sounds like you may be getting bacterial infections of your skin. Staphylococcus aureus is often the cause. You can place warm compresses on the boil, replacing as it cools down for 20 to 30 minutes at a time every few hours. However, since this is a recurrent problem for you, recommend that you see your regular doctor or a dermatologist to determine the cause. Don't cut it open. I know it is hard to resist squeezing them but that can cause the infection to spread. So don't squeeze the boils either. If you get redness and warmth in the surrounding skin - it could be a sign of cellulitis. If the boil is very large or doesn't resolve within a few days, recommend getting is seen more promptly. If you develop a fever in reaction to the boil - than you need to get immediate care. Don't know your age or health, but if you are diabetic or immune compromised for another reasons, you should not delay in getting seen. Take care. ...Read more
