Acne is one of the most common skin conditions. It affects about 80% of adolescents. Acne starts as a blockage of the sebaceous glands followed by inflammation. It occurs in areas where there are lots of sebaceous glands, such as the face back and chest. The hallmarks of the condition are blackheads, whiteheads (closed comedones), papules, pustules, cysts, nodules, and sometimes scarring. Facial lesions: Bumps on the face could be multiple things. Acne will turn red eventually. Eczema (associated with dry skin) can result in bumps that may or may not itch. A fungal infection would gradually spread and may not itch. If the bumps have a small central pit it could be a benign infection called Molluscum that resolves over time. Consider other dx: Sometimes there are skin conditions that co-exist with acne. For example, a condition known as pyogenic granuloma may appear at the site of an acne scar or blemish. This is handled differently than acne and must be diagnosed by the dermatologist. Many possibilities: When you say "no" remedy, tha's hard to believe. You should consider many things that could cause this - topicals, foods, hormones, etc. So there are many options. Call your doctor so you can get back on track! ...Read more

Drug reaction: I'm concerned this rash needs to be checked out by a doctor. While it's certainly possible this is 'just' acne, some TB meds (INH or isoniazid) can cause a lupus-like drug reaction. A doctor should be able to tell pretty quickly if that is the problem based on the appearance of the rash. Sun exposure, for example, may have made it worse?
