The small cysts: Are probably of no significance, but thyroid biopsy should be considered for the larger mass. Check a serum thyroglobulin level and discuss w/your doctor. ...Read more

Possible: Nodules that size although most often not cancer need to be evaluated further. Bilateral or multiple nodules are more likely to be benign. Next step should be fine needle biopsies (fna). Your us may show a benign colloid nodule, but your dr. Needs to see the report /discuss with the radiologist, and exam you to see if your symptoms are thyroid related, and consider thyroid function studies. ...Read more

Your nodule: Is fairly small, and many physicians wouldn't even biopsy it unless it enlarged or there were other factors noted on ultrasound or lab. If your blood levels are normal, don't worry about the left lobe. Check w/your doctor. ...Read more

Likely benign: Thyroid lesions are classified as solid or cystic or a combination of both. If its over 1 cm in size, it should have a needle biopsy with ultrasound guidance. ...Read more

Common problem: Nodules of the thyroid are common, especially in women. Most thyroid nodules are benign. "solid", "hypoechoic", "heterogeneous" nodules are the most common ones seen. If they are large enough (at least 1 cm), we typically recommend doing a fine needle biopsy to make sure they are benign. ...Read more
