What does it mean if most of my thyroid levels are in the low normal range and my T3 (liothyronine) is low?

What does it mean if most of my thyroid levels are in the low normal range and my T3 (liothyronine) is low?

Nothing: T3 (liothyronine) is important inside the cell, in the blood, the measurement is usually meaningless. If the other thyroid tests (free T4 and tsh) are normal, ignore the t3, (liothyronine) as it's a waste of your blood and money. ...Read more

My TSH 3rd generation level came back at 9.490. MY T4 was normal and T3 (liothyronine) was low.Taking 200 mcg. What do these numbers mean?

My TSH 3rd generation level came back at 9.490. MY T4 was normal and T3 (liothyronine) was low.Taking 200 mcg. What do these numbers mean?

Still hypothyroid: Not sure how long u have been on thyroid replacement, but if been on 200mcg daily over 6-8 weeks, likely require increase dose. If u have just had u'r medication adjusted the. Repeat TSH usually done in 6 wks; the numbers show that u'r body is still in hypothyroid state and that u'r thyroid gland is making less and less hormone or the T4 is not being converted to T3, (liothyronine) so thyroid medicine needed ...Read more

Can Lamotrigine (Lamictal) affect TSH levels? Also, what do low TSH mean (if T3 (liothyronine) and T4 are normal)?

Can Lamotrigine (Lamictal) affect TSH levels?

Also, what do low TSH mean (if T3 (liothyronine) and T4 are normal)?

Not alot: Thyroid interaction is not common with Lamictal, however as with all medications for each individual that can be a possibility. As to your low TSH that is usually a resonse to elevated T3, (liothyronine) T4. Remember that there can be variations in your thyroid measurements from one time to another. How do you feel. Do you have thyoid symptoms: cold, tired, fatigued, skin or nail changes? ...Read more

I'm hypothyroid , i take eltroxin .Tsh and T4 levels are normal but free T3 (liothyronine) is a bit low. What that mean?

Likely normal: All lab results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the test is usually in the best position to do that. You may wish to discuss the matter with your doctor at the next visit. ...Read more

Does a very low level TSH hormone mean hypo - or hyperthyroidism? T3 (liothyronine) is normal range, T4 is at the low level borderline.

Does a very low level TSH hormone mean hypo - or hyperthyroidism? T3 (liothyronine) is normal range, T4 is at the low level borderline.

Low TSH: Generally indicates an excess in thyroid hormone. That may be chronic w/hyperthyroidism -- or temporary w/thyroid inflammation. See you doctor. If you're already on thyroid replacement, the dose is too high. If you're on t3, (liothyronine) get off of it as it can be dangerous and doesn't work well as chronic replacement. Use brand name T4 only. ...Read more

Could a low TSH (.28) & normal T3 (liothyronine) & T4 levels mean a Pituitary issue? Or is that more typical of hypothyroidism? Would high Chloride (111) effect it?

Could a low TSH (.28) & normal T3 (liothyronine) & T4 levels mean a Pituitary issue? Or is that more typical of hypothyroidism? Would high Chloride (111) effect it?

Means pituitary is: A TSH of 0.28 with normal free T4 and free T3 (liothyronine) likely means the pituitary is working properly. A TSH of 0.1-0.4 is lower than the reference range, which means about 2.5% of normal people have a TSH or 0.1-0.4. Thus, one hopes she is normal. Her endocrinologist can follow and recheck her levels in 4-6 weeks to confirm that her levels are stable (TSH not dropping lower; T4 or T3 (liothyronine) not above normal). ...Read more

My 12 year old dayghter's T3 level is 208 and her T4 is normal. Her glucose is high, her vitamin d level is low, her platelets are high and she has sickle cell trait. What does this all mean?

My 12 year old dayghter's T3 level is 208 and her T4 is normal. Her glucose is high, her vitamin d level is low, her platelets are high and she has sickle cell trait. What does this all mean?

Not enough details: Hard to tell what's happening from just numbers. A doctor can evaluate the patient along with the test results, and take into consideration what meds the patient takes, what symptoms she has, why the tests were ordered, what the "units" of measurement were, what the "normal values" of the tests were, etc... For starters, this patient may need a TSH test, and some vitamin d supplements. ...Read more

What are the symptoms of low t3 (liothyronine) levels?

Maybe none: T3 (liothyronine) & T4 are the active thyroid hormones. But low T3 (liothyronine) by itself may be normal, unless either T4 is low or TSH is elevated, then total thyroid production is likely low. See your doctor for full evaluation and treatment. ...Read more

What was meant for low in t3 (liothyronine)?

Possibly nothing: If your other thyroid tests are normal, the low T3 (liothyronine) is probably irrelevant. T3 (liothyronine) levels in the cell are what's important, not in the blood stream -- except for highly elevated T3 (liothyronine) which can indicate an overactive thyroid. ...Read more
