What Does It Mean If Your Creatinine Is Abnormal
Monocytes 15%; bun/creatinine ratio 24; esterase (abnormal); microalbumin 77.9; vitamin d 24.8. What does this mean with remaining results all normal?
Nothing alone: Percentages of white cells are totally uninformative in the absence of absolute counts. Your bun/creatinine ratio may be nothing more than your having just eaten a steak dinner. A trace of Albumin in a non-diabetic's urine usually means nothing. I need the units for the vitamin d -- what did your physician say? Lab ranges are set so that almost everybody has a few flags. What does it mean if your creatinine level is too high 1.16 and your bun/creatinine ratio is very low at a 5?
Why do you ask?: Labs mean nothing in the absence of a clinical history. You might be a vegan bodybuilder. When I was lifting weights every day, my creatinine ran 1.6-1.8. The fellow-pathologists with whom I've discussed it think that reports generated by labs are causing overdiagnosis of renal disease (it's subscience -- "there's an adjustment for race because black people are more muscular.") ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

What does it mean if my CREATININE LEVEL is always 118 or 119 uMOL/L? The normal range is 50-120. For the 8th time, my CREA is always 119.
Could just be you: Reference ranges are set for couch-potatoes and if you're a well-muscled man, you'll have creatinine high, often above the "normal". And ranges are set arbitrarily to have a few percent of healthies outside on either end. Keep managing your hypertension and don't worry so much about creatinine. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
For 9 times, my CREATININE level is 119 uMOL/L. The normal range is 50-120. However, yesterday my CREATININE is 81.54. What does this mean?
Diagnosis needed: Serum creatinine is affected by gender, age, race, muscular build, and renal function. A rising creatinine is always of concern. "normal" on lab tests is generally less than 1.2 mg/dl. Renal function can be estimated with a more complex formula or measured with a 24 h urine collection. See your internist for further evaluation. ...Read more
