My 2.5 month old baby is always grunting and it sounds like she's straining her voice. She also pushes her legs straight out. What does this mean?

My 2.5 month old baby is always grunting and it sounds like she's straining her voice. She also pushes her legs straight out. What does this mean?

Normal events: At this age infants make a wide collection of sqeaking & grunting sounds that have no significance. They have rubbery, pliable airways that vibrate to make additional sounds & they have no social skills, they don't care if the noise they make is odd or not. The legs placement response is also normal until 6 -9 mo. When it becomes less frequent or dissapears. ...Read more

My 11 month old baby turns purple when he cries or gets angry and he stops breathing is this bad? What can I do so that don't happen?

My 11 month old baby turns purple when he cries or gets angry and he stops breathing is this bad? What can I do so that don't happen?

Breath-holding : Spells can occur in infants, sometimes with " passing out" from constriction of blood vessels in the brain from blowing off carbon dioxide. If it's a breath-holding spell, you'll need to ignore it in an 11-mo.-old so it won't become a "learned behavior." you'll only be able to do so after your pediatrician rules out cardiac or neurological problems that shouldn't be ignored. ...Read more

He : He should be evaluated by his pediatrician to be sure he isn't having seizure activity. It is very unlikely, but still would be reasonable to workup. Do you know why my son can not breath. It happens when he is running. Dr says he has not asthma. But my son turns red and complains that he can't brea?

Exercise-induced sx: It is highly possible that he has exercise-induced asthma (no symptoms at rest, only when physically active as when playing sports/running etc..If he had regular prenatal care with ultrasounds etc..Heart problem is less likely. Your doc may do breathing test in office, or a trial of inhaler use before exercise. If use of inhaler before sports help his symptoms, then u have the diagnosis. Good luck. ...Read more

Is it normal that my 7 month old baby is still not sitting up or crawling he grabs everything and i put him on the floor but when I do he screams cry?

Try putting him : in prone on a quilt. Put a toy just out of reach in front of him, then move it side-to-side. . He should hold his head & chest up steadily with weight on both forearms, then shift his weight to one while reaching for & attaining a toy with the other. When placed in a sit, he should maintain a "tripod ", flexed at the waist & propped on both hands. GE Reflux can cause discomfort in prone. ...Read more

My three month baby he chest cold since a month now it rattles on his chest when he breaths CAn u tell me what to do also he spits up when he burps i?

See a physician: Hello. I would recommend that your baby be seen by a medical provider to make sure that the "cold" hasn't settled into his chest, creating something like pneumonia. Babies don't have the ability to clear their mucus like you and I do, so it's important to have him examined. Also, throwing up can be a sign that it has settled in his chest, too. ...Read more

My baby is 6mth i just noticed she doesn't flip from her back to her belly anymore she used to do it all the time. Is this normal? Should i worry?

Very normal: She can see less of the world on her belly, so stays on her back to find out what is going on. Soon, it will occur to her that she can creep or crawl from one place to another on her belly, and then she will start to flip that way again. Keep giving her lots of floor time so she can practice the transitions. ...Read more

My baby is 7wks old and cry alot. sometime he cry until his face turn all cherry red. he does that quite often still.really worry that something wrong?

Crying: Babies cry frequently and sometimes exuberantly. Their faces may turn red from the effort of their crying. A parent should certainly ensure that the child is not in pain or discomfort, and feed /change diaper as needed. However, as long as the child is breathing well, crying itself is unlikely to be dangerous. Consult the child's doctor if you think there may be something wrong with the child. ...Read more

When my 9 month old baby cries he will begin to cough, is this normal? Sometimes it seems like it takes his breath away.

When my 9 month old baby cries he will begin to cough, is this normal? Sometimes it seems like it takes his breath away.

Some babies or: children have very sensitive cough and gag reflexes and may be triggered by very benign things like crying. As long as there is no wheezing, difficulty breathing or color change, this doesn't sound like anything too concerning in and of itself. However, if it persists, you may want to discuss this with your child's pediatrician. ...Read more

My 2 month old is having some mucus when she breathes sounds really congested on her chest, and when she burps sometimes is wet and it comes out with some mucus as well. I am extremely concerned, last night I heard congestion on her back "lungs area"?

Transmitted sounds: Often sounds heard in the chest are from the upper airway or nose area also known as transmitted sounds. Babies also breath through their noses not their mouths so if they are congested they may have trouble feeding. Nasal suction with a bulb syringe prior to feeding will help. Follow up with baby's doctor if baby is having difficulty feeding, you can hear wheezing. ...Read more
