What does low total immunoglobulin g levels mean?

What does low total immunoglobulin g levels mean?

See an immunologist: Immunoglobulin g (igg) is the main type of antibody found in the blood and is used by your body to help fight off infections. Some people may have a slightly low igg but be perfectly healthy. In others, it may indicate a problem with the immune system that can put one at risk for getting infections. Immunoglobulin G-361, A-76, M-28
What do these low levels mean ?

Dont worry but first: thing I would be wondering is why did you have those tests done? Are you having recurrent infections?(not just "regular colds"?),,,but if you were my pt.first thing I would do is repeat the tests to confirm results..If you are having recurrent sinus infections, bronchitis, etc & the repeat tests are similar, next step would be see an allergist/immunologist to further evaluate. Good luck ...Read more

Immunoglobulin G-361, A-76, M-28 what does these low levels of each mean?

Hard to know: Without more information, it is difficult to know if the levels are low due to lack of production (primary immune deficiency syndrome, medication side effect) or loss of antibodies (protein losing gastrointestinal disease). Also, most people will do well with these levels, but it would be important to know if you have had any recent, or a long history of recurrent, infections. ...Read more

What could a high immunoglobulin g 1660 and low a1 globulin 1.9 & a2 globulin 10.6 mean?

IgA Deficiency: Sounds like selective IgA deficiency, if these are the results. Selective IgA deficiency is the most common immunodeficiency in the world and is usually benign but needs to be followed. IgA def in women is more significant since it can convert to common variable immune deficiency and there is HUGE risk of lymphoma development in the 50's-60's. See an immunologist ...Read more

What does low immunoglobulin g subclass 2 on blood work mean?

Low gamma globulin: By itself, a slightly low level of one igg subclass is a very nonspecific finding. A very low level would be worrisome, but really, what is needed is to look at this information in the context of vaccine responses to Pneumovax vaccine. If the functional antibodies made by the immune system are at normal levels, the gross levels of antibody are less worrisome. ...Read more

Immunoglobulins: Ige is the allergic antibody (this was normal). An elevated igg level might simply be if he was fighting an active infection at the time (this is a good sign). Iga protects mucosal membranes (sinus, lungs, GI tract, urinary tract) and his level is normal. Feel reassured that these labs look very good. ...Read more
