What Does High Sedimentation Rate Mean
Complement C4/ESR: complement C4 and the erythrocyte sedimentation rate are usually high in conditions which cause acute or chronic inflammation. These are often measured in autoimmune diseases and rheumatoid arthritis, but they can be elevated in many other conditions, including cancer and heart attacks. The results need to be interpreted by your physician. Good luck.
Laboratory Results: This depends on what your physician is treating you for. These are not specific to anyone diagnosis. The MCHC and RDW are describing your red cell size. The monocytes are one type of cell you have floating in your bloodstream. The high sedimentation rate is seen in various types of inflammation. You physician will explain these as he or she proceeds to diagnose you and treat you
What does it mean to have low hemoglobin, hematocrit, mch, mchc, and high platelet count, and sedimentation rate?
Depends: The sedimentation rate can be elevated for a number of causes. The most common cause is inflammation. The test is most valuable when it is done in looking for a certain condition. It has far less value as a "screening test." I have seen a number of normal individuals with an elevated sed rate and no cause was ever found. However, an elevated sed rate is not common without a cause.
Inflammation: The sed rate is sort of a generic test for inflammation. Many different things in the body can cause an elevated sed rate. Your doctor should be evaluating the cause. It doesn't necessarily mean anything serious.
See below: High sedimentation rates may be caused by: autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus or rheumatoid arthritis. Cancer, such as lymphoma or multiple myeloma. Chronic kidney disease. Infection, such as pneumonia, pelvic inflammatory disease, or appendicitis. Inflammation of joints (such as polymyalgia rheumatica) and blood vessels (such as giant cell arteritis).
Inflammation: Whether soft tissue, bones, joints or other organs are inflammed.
I Have a high sedimentation rate (significant inflammation). what's the next step for treatment and where to go?
Inflammation: Has become widespread and is at the root of many illnesses. Please see your doctor for treatment. Also ask about natural approaches such as good quality marine fish oil and turmeric. Ask about an anti-inflammatory food plan also. Peace and good health.
Paraproteinemia: The Sed Rate often goes up if there is inflammation somewhere in the body but it can also go up if lymphocytes are producing excessive protein (called immunoglobulin). This is called a paraproteinemia. This might represent a blood disorder. I suggest you chat with your Doctor to see if this is a old vs a new finding. If new, then your doctor may want you to see a hematologist to clarify.
I have 549igA, 37 sedimentation rate westergren, 21.64 free kappa lt chains, s, and kappa/lambda ratio, s is 1.66 What does this mean?
Any symptoms?: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, Why were these tests done? Do you have any symptoms? Kappa/lambda ratio is generally a useless test. IgA of 549, per se is not a problem. Sed rate is in the normal range. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.
What isthe erythrocyte sedimentation rate (esr) is why is it and what happened with this is can't I pregnat cuz of this? Its on high rate what I do
Classic lab test: The erythrocyte sedimentation rate ("sed rate") is a very old blood test of limited value and often subject to lab error. It's often up in some of the inflammatory diseases; 41 is only a mild elevation. This is not by itself the cause of your infertility, whether or not the cause itself is known. Request a full explanation from your personal physician, and good luck in becoming a mother.
19 year old female had labs done to rule out the possibility of Lupus and labs came back with a high sedimentation rate (26) and a low mch (28.9)?
Glad it's not lupus: That's a normal sed rate as far as this pathologist is concerned. I'm not worried about your MCH either. Reference ranges are set so that a few percent of helathy folks fall outside on either end. I trust the rest of the lupus labs came back healthy. Best wishes.
Hi I am 19 years old I just done my blood test the result is the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (esr) is high its on 60 which medican I do need?
Unclear: Just because a lab test is abnormal, it doesn't mean you need a medication. A sed rate is not very specific and it would be unlikely to have any condition diagnosed solely on this test.
My white blood count is 13 and my sedimentation rate us 25 is there a need for concern white blood count has been high a year absolute neutrophil high?
Hard to say: A WBC of 13, 000 may indicate an acute infection, but the fact that it's been present for a year speaks against it being due to infection. Sed rate is a non specific test and is not diagnostic of anything. It would be worthwhile to review any medications you are taking that might elevate your WBC. ESR and cRP in MS.: Being multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory condition, it would not be unreasonable to think that the ESR and CRP could be elevated when the condition is active. That being said, ESR and CRP are very nonspecific markers and in and of themselves should not be used diagnostically in this context.
My blood test showed I had a very low ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate). What could this mean?
What to do about rheumatoid factor: 1"60 titer, elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate what is the preliminary diagnoses?
Not rheumatoid: This may not be rheumatoid arthritis. Other medical causes can be the reason. We need more information. Your physician can clarify this
