Blood salts: Chloride is an electrolyte in our body that combines with others to form salts. Commonly it is associated with sodium to form sodium chloride aka salt. As a mineral in our body it helps with cellular function and can easily change with the amounts of hydration we have. If we are dehydrated for example we would expect salt levels to be higher than normal. ...Read more

My blood work up shows "High Chlorides and Lymphocytes with low Neutrophils" what does this mean? Is this the indicator for the Rhumatoid Factor?

My blood work up shows "High Chlorides and Lymphocytes with low Neutrophils" what does this mean? Is this the indicator for the Rhumatoid Factor?

Lab work: No this is not a sign of RA. However, I don't know what the rest means as I deal with numbers not with arbitrary highs and lows. What is considered high and low "by the lab" may be considered normal by a doctor or not. We pay attention to the clinical condition with the numbers to consider its significance. There are some numbers reported by labs that have no meaning at all to us. ...Read more

Out of Context: It is not our place to interpret your labs without the full lab results, access to your health care history, physical exam and the very reason the tests were done in the first place. This interpretation of labs must come from the professional caring for you who ordered them. The question you have asked us is impossible to answer on the internet. ...Read more

Could a low TSH (.28) & normal T3 (liothyronine) & T4 levels mean a Pituitary issue? Or is that more typical of hypothyroidism? Would high Chloride (111) effect it?

Could a low TSH (.28) & normal T3 (liothyronine) & T4 levels mean a Pituitary issue? Or is that more typical of hypothyroidism? Would high Chloride (111) effect it?

Means pituitary is: A TSH of 0.28 with normal free T4 and free T3 (liothyronine) likely means the pituitary is working properly. A TSH of 0.1-0.4 is lower than the reference range, which means about 2.5% of normal people have a TSH or 0.1-0.4. Thus, one hopes she is normal. Her endocrinologist can follow and recheck her levels in 4-6 weeks to confirm that her levels are stable (TSH not dropping lower; T4 or T3 (liothyronine) not above normal). ...Read more

Wbc, alkaline phosphatase, and chloride high in blood test. Plus leukocytes in urine. What does it mean? Been fatigued with nausea and diarrhea

Varies: Multiple potential causes and it may be more than one thing. Leukocytes in the urine can be one of the findings if a urinary tract infection. A full urinanalysis and culture can give more detail. If a urinary infection gets up in the kidney it can cause more systemic symptoms, such as an elevated white count. A detailed exam and further studies will likely determine the cause. ...Read more

Got is low, chloride is high, rbc/hpf is high, and blood is moderate (abnormal)?

I have neprhocalcinosis, today I had a renal function test done and my BUN was 7 & chloride 112, other levels normal. What could this mean?

I have neprhocalcinosis, today I had a renal function test done and my BUN was 7 & chloride 112, other levels normal. What could this mean?

Labs: Your BUN is lower and maybe a reflection of your protein intake but doesn't mean disease. BUN levels are governed by many reasons including kidney function protein intake liver issues. Assuming you have no issue low BUN is more diet. Your chloride is high normal and should be repeated. These labs have to be looked in totality and don't mean disease. Best of luck ...Read more
