Are home fertility tests like 1st response accurate with telling your fertility? Also are the results something that should be rechecked monthly?
Mixed Answer: Lh predictor kits measure the lh surge, not ovulation per se. If you have a good lh surge, your chance of ovulation is about 95%. There are problems though. Faint positives represent less robust surges, often seen with Clomid (clomiphene) and are not very useful in this case. Remember ovulation comes ~ 24 hours after the peak of the surge. These kits cause stress. Sex ev other day, days 10 - 17 covers it. ...Read more

What type of dr. Should my husband see? My husband wants to have some fertility test done. First he wants to have a sperm count. Should he see a regular family practice doctor or an urologist?
A fertility specialist wrote my wife a prescription for Synthroid (thyroxine) for a TSH of 2.9, borderline. Previous test was 2.1. What about retesting first?
More than 1 approach: As she is trying to conceive, and a "normal" TSH in early pregnancy is under 2.5, it's reasonable to treat with synthroid (thyroxine). If retesting instead i would check thyroid hormones and thyroid antibodies to decide if treatment is needed. Untreated women may get more miscarriages with ivf. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
