I have multinodular goiter with more involvement on the right side. Two biggest nodules are 1.5 cm. Could thiscause some difficulty swallowing?
I have multiple nodules like around 20 and a large goiter in my thyroid. Last biopsy was three years ago. Unable to get follow up due to no insurace?
Follow up when u can: I assume the biopsy 3 years ago was benign (negative)? The risk of thyroid cancer is low, with each nodule having an apprx. 5% chance of cancer. Odds are good that u are dealing with a benign process but u should followup as soon as you can get insurance to have this re-evaluated. Look around to see what's available to u. There are clinics that give deep discount for self-pay or free at med school. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

However, patients with hashimoto's also have lymphocytic infiltration of the gland which contributes to goiter development also. That takes time to go down. We see this in patients with nl thyroid function also. Grave's antibodies stimulate thyroid growth mimicking tsh. ...Read more
No: It can cause you to put on weight only if it also affects the ability of the thyroid to make hormones. Frequently, a thyroid goiter will have no affect on thyroid's function, in which case, it should not cause weight gain. Confused with my thyroid. Does a goiter mean you are making too much thyroid, or mean you don't have enough thyroid?
Either: A goiter is a term used to describe the enlargement of the thyroid gland. There are many reasons why a thyroid will be enlarged. Sometimes, the enlargement will cause hyperthyroid (too much), sometimes hypothyroid (not enough) and sometimes it has no effect on the function of the thyroid at all. You need a blood test to know what the enlargement (goiter) is causing. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
If a person had their thyroid burnt out at least 30 years ago because of a goiter, wouldn't it be obilterated? What if the person had a u/s done and it showed throid tissue that was abnormal? What would the indications be?
Depends: You said your "thyroid burnt out" so i suspect you had radiation therapy. Such treatment will not "obliterate" your tissue completely so you will have remnants of your thyroid remaining. The current ultrasound might have just picked up those tissues. If you didn't have thyroid cancer 30 years ago and your thyroid level is current ok, you might just follow this and biopsy if it changes in time. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
