What Does Contralateral Mean
Had spermatic cord denervation surgery on right side, and pain has since developed in contralateral testicle. How? Are two sides of groin connected?
Sometimes seems 2 B!: I love it- 2 sides of the groin connected? Where can I go with that one? LOL. I'll bet George Carlin could get a RISE out of it! ROFLMBO! Anyways, I'm not sure why you had the denervation Surgery to begin with but my guess's there was pain on BOTH sides BUT your right side was DOMINANT. Now that's gone & the left is STANDING UP FOR ITSELF! Oh, this is too much! Ha! www.healthtap.com/drsaghafi ...Read more
Possibly??: I am assuming that you had a surgical repair of an inhuman hernia. There are people who complain of post-op pain on the same side and the greatest risk factor for that is age under 40. You should see a good pain management doctor after you see your surgeon if that doesn't help. ...Read more

Lymph nodes: When looking at lymph nodes with ct or MRI we look at size and number. Sometimes they are too big, or there are too many. With vertebral artery dissection, are neurological symptoms always contralateral, or can they happen on the same side as the dissection?
Vertebral artery: ...Dissection is a rare condition / trauma. Often there are just intimal tears (or disruptions on the inside layer of the vessel) and only seldomly is there a true dissection. Symptoms can vary greatly b/w patients, but contra-lateral symptoms are not common. It has to do with the bloodvessel ring at the base of the brain that typically connects the left-and-right sides together. U have more info? ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
4 month old, left testicle atrophied.
Consulted pediatric urologist, next step to secure normal right testicle with mild hydrocele "contralateral orchiopexy" recommended. My question, is it safe for 4 month old? Will there be any complexity?
Here are some ...: Medical necessity to undergo procedural Rx should be proportional to the risk involved with professional possibility. Clinically, your 4-month boy has been clinically assumed to have neonatal - before birth - left testicular torsion leading to its atrophy. Doing contralateral orchiopexy (bilateral) is the gold standard for male T-torsion after birth. If such practice is right for him may not be... ...Read more
Wasn't sure what you: Meant by low counts, but i would not leap from low blood count to ovarian ca. Ovarian ca does not tend to metastasize to bone marrow, where blood cells are made. Contralateral ovary, fallopian tubes, peritoneum, liver, lungs, bone and brain are the most common sites. I think the more intriguing question is why you are making the connection? Is there a family history that concerns you? ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What does it mean to be "in control of your emotions"? I thought emotions happen and you then deal with the situation?
In control: You're right, emotions arise, and you deal with the situation. Being "in control of your emotions" does not mean not having the emotions -- it usually refers to being in charge of what you do with or about them. When angry, do you physically attack the person you're angry at, or do you speak with them about what angered you? Do you let yourself cool down before acting? These are important. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
