Arthritis: At age 20 You're young to have osteoarthritis. In this setting I would suggest you have your physician send you to a rheumatologist. A rheumatologist is a specialist in medical Musculoskeletal problems and would better help define what is going on with you.

Not much: If you have RA, properly diagnosed by a doctor, confirmed. With blood tests, you probably need medication. Talk to a rheumatologist about your medication concerns. Natural remedies may be able to give some relief, but if you have deformities in your joints already, you need to see a rheumatologist.

I have been having pain on my right toes, wrist, back and fingers on my right hand. What do I do? I have Fibroymalgia and arthritits

I have been having pain on my right toes, wrist, back and fingers on my right hand. What do I do? I have Fibroymalgia and arthritits

Poly arthritis: U seem to have developed arthritis in >1 joint @ the same time, a condition AKA polyarthritis. In the absence of any other Sx (especially swelling or fever), u shd rest ur joints- use them as little as possible- & if u are otherwise healthy & not taking meds, consider an NSAID like Naproxen with food. This will buy u time to see ur doctor &/or rheumatologist for diagnosis. Keep a diary. Good luck!

I am 17. a week ago I was cracking my knuckles but now the cracking does whenever I make a fist. Slight pain in upper knuckle of mid finger. Athritis?

No: There is no disorder in your knuckles. Cracking sound on bending a joint is benign. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine.

Is it normal to develop pmr and psoriatic artritis at the same time? My pmr symptoms started 18 months ago, but I also had finger joint pain at that time. 6 months ago, finger pain got worse and nail.

Is it normal to develop pmr and psoriatic artritis at the same time? My pmr symptoms started 18 months ago, but I also had finger joint pain at that time. 6 months ago, finger pain got worse and nail.

? all PSA: You are rather young for pmr. It may be that your initial symptoms of psoriatic arthritis (psa), mimicked pmr with neck, shoulder, lower back and/or hip hip pain/stiffness. Both pmr and psa can have elevated ESR and or crp. Both can respond well to prednisone. I try to diagnose people with one disease not two if possible.

What does a brown recluse spider bite look like I have a bite on index finger and the skin is coming off. It burns and itches, has little ant bite type bumps

What does a brown recluse spider bite look like I have a bite on index finger and the skin is coming off. It burns and itches, has little ant bite type bumps

A: A brown recluse bite can have different appearances. There can be almost no signs of the bite or there can be a dark escar (scab) with surrounding white tissue (that is dead). In some cases the brown recluse's bite can be necrotoxic and cause very severe damage. It can large amounts of skin to die and can eat into the muscle as well. This type of reaction is usually associated with fever, muscle and joint pain and feeling very ill. I can not diagnose the cause of your symptoms. Brown recluses are actually very little and non-descript looking. If your skin is sloughing off your finger - do recommend that this be medically evaluated.

My moms hands are freezing cold, and the tips of her fingers look like she's been in water, like her fingertips are shriveled up?

My moms hands are freezing cold, and the tips of her fingers look like she's been in water, like her fingertips are shriveled up?

Having cold hands?: Keeping warm, active, don't smoke, and of course a healthy, balanced diet/exercise will help you maintain good health. Is she having cold feet too? I suspect she may have a vasospastic condition called raynaud's phenomenon. When exposed to cold, this can cause significant symptoms--color changes, pain etc. Keep warm, wear gloves. Consult doc for eval/treatment. Good luck.

My right hand seems to swell and my fingers look like fat links, it doesn't hurt, im a 23 year old female and just trying to figure out how serious iti?

Serious: Enough that I would recommend you be seen. Arthritis comes to mind as the first possibility. I also highly recommend that you see a chinese medicine practitioner/acupuncturist. Herbs and acupuncture can help your body balance and heal it self. They may also have some diet recommendations that can help.

I get shooting pains down my index finger when anything touches the top of my hand.

I get shooting pains down my index finger when anything touches the top of my hand.

Need to be seen: You could have different problems like a bone spur, an arthritic joint which can irritate the nerve down your index finger See a provider you may need nerve conduction study or X ray or just an exam to see what is causing the problem and find a solution to it. It probably is a localized irritation of that nerve

Chapped fingers (especially index and thumb) on both of my hands. They seem to heal and then chap again. How can I cure them?

Chapped fingers (especially index and thumb) on both of my hands. They seem to heal and then chap again. How can I cure them?

Chapped fingers: Check your weekly schedule and see when they are worse and when they are better. As a dentist and washing my hands all day long, my thumbs and index fingers are worse on the week days and get better on the weekend. My relief came by changing soaps. I hope a thorough exam of your daily habits is adequate, otherwise seeing a dermatologist is a great and fast solution.

Why have some of my fingernails started curving down when they grow long? This only affects my index and middle fingers on both hands.

Growth rate: If part of the nail that is closer the nailbed grows slower than the part you put polish on it will curve downward. If there is a build up of debris under the nail this might explain this.

What do you suggest if my sister has recently had the index and middle fingers of her left hand accidently cut off (but she's right handed) is that a disability?

What do you suggest if my sister has recently had the index and middle fingers of her left hand accidently cut off (but she's right handed) is that a disability?

An impairment...: ...technically. Loss of anatomy or function is considered a disability when one loses the ability to perform an activity as a result of an impairment. Many people have fingers amputated and are still able to function at or near 100%. Granted her injury sounds significant though and followup with an amputee specialist could help with all aspects of helping her return to prior functional level.
