What Does An Abnormal Ultrasound Look Like
Ultrasound +/- 8%:
Properly performed and interpreted ultrasound examinations have a variability of 8% plus or minus the measured dating.
Given the dates in the question and assuming a high-quality ultrasound, I would suspect that last menses dating is inaccurate.
Ultrasound dating at 11 weeks 0 days should have a 95% confidence range of 9 weeks 6 days to 12 weeks 1day which is +/- 8%. ...Read more
An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more

Kidney bean: Normal cervical nodes are oval or flattened hypoechoic structures with varying amounts of hilar fat. The hilae are usually hypovascular. Malignant infiltration alters the features of the lymph nodes, resulting in enlarged nodes that are usually rounded and show peripheral or mixed vascularity. I'm 53 yrs. Old, and impression in my ultrasound states that I have atypical renal csyt, right. Should I worry?
What is "atypical? ": Single cysts in the kidney are not uncommon. My guess is that there was something different seen on the ultrasound or ct scan. If it were my kidney, i'd want to know what this is. Talk with your doctor about what is needed to make a firm diagnosis here. This may require re-scanning - or even a kidney biopsy. Good luck. Ultrasound, done though the abdominal wall and transvaginally is used to examine the size shape and other characteristics of ovaries. Cancer may present as a mass in the ovary or a cyst or a combination of the two. Definitive diagnosis requires examination of suspect tissue by a pathologist. See this site for more info.

Increased densities: Liver cancer can look like single or multiple nodules of increased density on the ultrasound. However, ultrasound is not the best, nor is it the final test in the diagnosis of liver cancer. A ct scan with and without contrast or an MRI scan give better visualization. By ultrasound, it is sometimes difficult to differentiate a hemangioma (a benign lesion) from a liver cancer. ...Read more
It depends: On the level of suspicion of the abnormality, which is based on various imaging features and (usually) correlation with mammography. If the abnormality is deemed "probably benign" (BIRADS 3, less than 2% chance of malignancy), the usual management is 6 month follow up. If it is suspicious (BIRADS 4 or 5), biopsy would be indicated. ...Read more

I had both the same day, and the mammogram come back normal, but the ultrasound came back abnormal? Which one is more accurate?
Different: Mammogram and ultrasound look at different qualities. Mammogram is good at seeing tissue that is more dense than surrounding tissue and for calcifications. Ultrasound is good at seeing the whether those tissues are solid or fluid-filled or both. The two together, in addition to the physician's exam, help to create a more complete picture. Trust in your doctor to interpret these findings for you. ...Read more
Can an ultrasound have conclusive findings about the embryo at 6 weeks? Is it possible to tell an embryo is abnormal so early?
I had 4abortions. No comp. Asked my dr if I could have Asherman's synd. He says no becuz ultrasound doesn't show anything "abnormal" is he right?
Not entirely: Asherman's is scarring within the endometrial cavity. This cannot be excluded with standard ultrasound because the cavity is not distended. Hysterosalpingography would be the gold standard, sonohysterography a close second. Unless you have recurrent pregnancy loss, I wouln't worry about it or do any further imaging. ...Read more

Not Sure: To me, an abnormal embryos means it was genetically tested with PGD and found to have the wrong number of chromosomes. But one should not use that embryo. What should be my due date? 1 ultrasound report says that its 11 january But other says that its 20th january 2015 My LMP is 3rd april 2014 (irregular)
Earliest: The earliest ultrasound is the most accurate and I would rely on that since you say your periods are irregular. All 3 day embryos are pretty much the same size but babies at term can be normal and be 6-9 pounds. ...Read more

Code 3 mammogram:
In a small percentage of mammograms, after appropriate workup with additional views and ultrasound, the findings cannot be clearly called benign, nor are they worrisome enough for biopsy. These mammograms are called "code 3". Code 1 & 2 are benign, and 4 & 5 are suspicious.
If code 3, a 6 month followup evaluation (usually repeat mammogram and ultrasound of just 1 side) is an appropriate step. ...Read more
