Probably migraine: Frequently brain freeze occurs in migraine patients, and sometimes the migraines themselves give this feeling. If you have been getting headaches for a while, this is almost certainly the cause, particularly if otherwise normal. Sick Headaches: Migraines are sometimes known as "sick headaches" in some circles. It is not unusual to have associated vomiting and nausea. Best thing is to lie down in a dark room, cover your eyes and go to sleep if possible. Sounds like you had an "aura" of visual change as well.
