What Does A Soft Spot In The Spine Mean
I have a boil for two years on my lower spine just on the bum area. It comes and goes in the same spot. Does this mean I might have a condition?
Hard to know: This is a good question for your doctor. White spots can be many things, including normal. Are the spots on the bones in your neck, or on the spinal cord? How big are they? Why did you have the neck mri? Ask your doctor for the MRI report and come back to tell us what it says. We will be able to help you more with that information!See 1 more doctor answer
Wat does " u have 5 spots on ur spine that r bulging out " mean? Should I b worried? I askd but all he said was I'm fine
Not much information: I presume these were disc bulges noted on a lumbar or cervical MRI. It's not uncommon for disc bulges to be noted on MRI studies. It depends on the size and location whether these are significant lesions. In most cases, this finding is normal or at least common for your age group but must be considered in conjunction with your symptoms and exam findings.See 1 more doctor answer
Unable to answer: T1 images will show water, air, and cortical bone as dark. T2 images will show air, cortical bone, and other hydrophobic substances as dark. So depends on image acquisition and anatomy.See 1 more doctor answer
Recent bone scintigrapy showed no hot spots other than my lumbar spine. Does this mean all my other joints are ok? X-rays have shown OA in many joints
Is it likely that I will re-fracture the spondylolysis I have had surgery on (6 months postop)? Still have pain will this be a weak spot in the spine?
Unlikely: There are 2 surgical approaches to a spondylysis- a fusion or a direct repair. If you are still having pain, you would want to ensure your surgery is healed, a ct scan can show this for sure. If the surgery is healed, it will be the strongest part of your back and so it would be extremely unlikely you could injure it again. Much more likely that if you had an injury it would be other level.See 1 more doctor answer

My 2 1/2 year old son has a 3 inch light brown spot on the base of his spine. When he was younger, that spot was always a dark blue/black.
Lately when I am working, I have been noticing that my back has been hurting in one spot when I push down. Its my lower back and left of my spine.?
Acute onset low back: Localized pain to one area, brought on by doing some activity associated with repetitive bending, twisting or prolonged positioning is typically muscular in origin. Try stretching, avoid positioning your back in the activities I have described, use alleve 2 tabs twice a day for 5 days. Most of the time the sore area will improve. Get an evaluation if it persists.
A nerve in my back keeps being pinched, always on the same spot. In the middle of my spine, this is accompanied by a constant back spasm and pain.?
Not alone: You are not alone...This is one of the most common complaints that we see in daily practice...It would be a good idea to see your family doc for an evaluation and possible referral for physical therapy if indicated. Generally avoid lifting with your back...Use your legs...Listen to your body! Pain is one of your body's ways of protecting you from further damage...If it hurts, don't do it..
Healthy 25f here, pain in one spot in mid spine when pressed or bend forward, already for a month. No injury. What is usually the cause of it? Worried.
Trigger point: If your pain is well localized to a confined area, it may be just a trigger point, or a localized area of soft tissue inflammation. Often there is no explanation for why these occur. Treatment options include massage/physical therapy, anti-inflammatory meds such as Ibuprofen or naproxyn, and localized steroid injections.
I have a spot in the middle of my spine that hurts which recently makes the rest of my back hurt what's wrong?
Back pain: Pain directly over the bony spine can be more worrisome that back pain over the muscles. Your concerns are too vague to give you more suggestions than to let your doctor examine you to really figure this out.
What would cause sudden intense pain in spine when slightly bending over? Similar to sciat pain. But stays in that spot. 4in above waist. Last 2-3 sec
Depends: Unfortunately there are many potential causes of sharp back pain, including degenerative disc, herniated disc, facet arthropathy, muscle sprain/strain, soft tissue inflammation, etc. The good news is that the vast majority of back pain is self limited, meaning that with time it will resolve. Try advil or aleve (naproxen) if needed, and see a physician if pain persists.
I have a nagging pain in my back. A quarter sized spot about 1/3 way down just left of my spine (touching my spine). Sharp pain comes and goes. Ideas?
It could be various: Things, go get it examined by your doctor, to ensure it is nothing to worry about, especially if you are having any fevers, chills, sweats, redness around the spot, etc.
Tingling in back between my shoulder blades and my spine. It does not feel like needles, it's in the same spot.
Trigger points: Pain in the midline of the back or around the shoulder blades is usually muscular. Trigger points, fairly specific areas that when pressed reproduce or trigger the pain, are common and muscular. Levator scapula syndrome is a variant near the top of the shoulder blade. Good posture, avoid looking down at computer screens. Try ice/heat, nsaid's, and salonpas hot patches.
Both either sides of my back hurt. Spots are in the exact same spot just on either side of my spine. Could it be my kidneys?
Extremely unlikely: The symptoms described in the question most likely stem from a muscular problem and unrelated to the kidneys. Extremely rare, conditions involving the kidney such as bilateral hydronephrosis and PCKD can manifest this way.
Have a sore/tender spot on the middle/upper portion of my spine. It hurts when I press on it but I feel no abnormalities at the area.
