Doctor insights on:
What Does A Soft Cervix Mean
It depends: If you are pregnant, cervical softening occurs as you progress through pregnancy, especially as you near delivery. If it occurs too early, your OB will watch you closely. If not pregnant, it's difficult to determine if there's any clinical significance without more information.
Labor indicator: You didn't mention if you're pregnant or not. A high soft open cervix is how a cervix is felt prior to labor. The changes give clues to whether or not you will be able to have a baby vaginally. The cervix starts in the back of the vagina, is hard and closed. For labor to start, it moves forward, gets softer and opens. The more the changes, the better the chances for labor & vaginal birth.See 1 more doctor answer
No: Soft is more consistent with pregnancy, Firm is not pregnant. Soft like lips, possibly pregnant, firm like nose, not pregnant.
What does it mean to have a high soft cervix around the time ur period was suppose to come but never showed up?
My cervix feels high and very soft. I want to know if I am dialated or not. What does a super high and very soft cervix mean in pregnancy. I'm 37w6d?
Maybe: Generally, as the cervix readies for labor, it becomes softer, it "moves down" a bit, and then it starts to dilate. Usually, this is caused by contractions - if you're not having contractions, or any bleeding, or any loss of fluid, then you probably aren't dilating just yet. But your doctor can check at your next visit! If you are having any of those signs, I would go to your doctor sooner.
Softening: Is a preparation for labor in the future. It will soften and eventually will stretch out. Congratulations.
35 weeks pregnant. Today my doctor said that my cervix is soft, but closed. What does this mean? Is that normal for 35 weeks?
Soft cervix: The cervix softens and then begins to dilate as labor nears and the cervix has to open. 35 weeks would be early to expect incipient labor. Your obstetrician is best qualified to answer your question, however.
How long can a soft cervix last at31 weeks? Lots of ewcm. Last baby born early 37w. Have polyhdramnios too. I know weeks but what about a month still?
YOU SHOULD BE: Discussing this at length with your OB who is taking care of you or the perinatologist who should be consulting on the case as they know your specifics and obviously should be monitoring you closely, with meds if necessary depending on your situation you could get to 37 weeks again they would know m=much better than me and it depends if your poly gets worse or not, call your OB this weekend.
Unknown: We can not predict when labor will start in any one individual. If you are preterm please contact your Obgyn for instructions.
Varies so much!: The cervix gets thinner, softer, and can begin to dilate at the end of pregnancy. So it would seem that things are moving the right way. That, of course, doesn't tell you anything about when you'll actually go into labor! Watch for a gush or a trickle of fluid that can happen when your water breaks, or increasingly frequent cramps or back pains that go along with a "tight" feeling of the uterus.
