Does lung cancer cause intermittent fleeting rib pain, or would this be advanced disease?? 25, doc says lungs sound clear, 9 -yr pack hstry
Non-specific: Fleeting chest pains are not specific for lung cancer. It could be caused by a host of other benign reasons like muscle pain, rib pain from strain or inflammation. Pneumonia or pleurisy can also cause it. If you are worried about lung cancer and you are a smoker, check with your doctor about a screening CAT scan of the chest. If it is negative, time to stop smoking! ...Read more
I have OCD and lately I'm obsessed with a whistling sound when I exhale. I hear when I provoke it by breathing very slow. All tests clear. Lung cancer?
OCD Symptoms?: If you have been examined by a physician, and had the appropriate tests (chest x-ray, blood tests) and nothing was found to suggest lung cancer, then this may be an OCD issue. Do you have family history of lung cancer, or have you lost a friend to this disease? Are you a smoker? If all these are no, then you need to stop monitoring your breathing so closely. Talk to MD or psychologist re OCD. ...Read more
Can breast pain be connected with lung cancer? I've had a mammgram and ultra sound all good. It's just in one breast.
25 years old, quit smoking for 1 mnth, sob, intermittent chest pain that moves, doctors say lungs sound clear, no,cxr lung cancer??
Not cancer: Congratulations on your smoking cessation. Lung cancer doesn't present this way. The pain is almost certainly chest wall pain, but if you are really short of breath as well (and it's not just from discomfort), you need a competent fitness evaluation and perhaps spirometry in addition to your CXR and exam. Adult-onset asthma might be the explanation; it's manageable. Best wishes. ...Read more
I am an 11-year lung cancer survivor. Why would my CEA level be high, (3.9), & MONO% be high, (13.0), yet cat scans, ultra sounds all show no cancer.
Uncertain: The CEA level is only slightly elevated, and may be due to other factors, especially smoking. After 11 years of being cancer-free, cancer is unlikely, but can't be ruled out, because a recurrence can be too small to detect by ct scans and ultrasound. Your doctor will want to follow you closely. The mono% (monocytes?) doesn't have much to do with carcinoma one way or another. ...Read more

My doctor listens to my lungs and they sound perfect she says, is there any way I could have lung cancer because I am short of breath and have chest pain occasionally.
You do not have lung cancer.
For good health — Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.

30mins after eating my gut sounds noisy. Suffering from fatigue&weight loss. Colonoscopy clear, worried about smallcell lung cancer secrting hormones?
Unlikey: Small cell lung cancer is not subtle. This would be way down on my list of possibilities, along with other paraneoplastic GI syndromes. With fatigue, weight loss, and a rumbling gut, I'd check you for malabsorption / maldigestion, gluten enteropathy, maybe Whipple's, Crohn's, giardiasis, pancreatic insufficiency from tumor / adult onset cystic fibrosis, a few others. ...Read more

Not cancer: I'm really glad you quit smoking. Ask your personal physician about a referral to an otolaryngologist and a dentist who's gum-savvy. So scared have something like lung cancer, had cough for 7 weeks after cold, not easing. Dr said chest and breathing ok and no other worrying symptom?
Your risk for lung cancer involves a number of factors including your smoking history, chest imaging findings, and genetic predisposition.
If you are experiencing a prolonged cough, a pulmonary function test and chest radiograph may help to determine the next steps. If your chest is clear on exam the likelihood of bronchitis or pneumonia is less. A virtual in box consult can also be arranged. ...Read more
Pain in upper right back. Slight cough for 2 months. 2 xrays and bloods. All fine. Highly anxious now. Could I have lung cancer.?
Male 21. Non smoker active lifestyle. I seem to be getting frequent colds with little cough about every other month. How likely is lung cancer?
Essentially zero: Although there is some data suggesting that lung cancer occurs at a bit younger age in never-smokers compared with smokers, in the absence of (for instance) immune system deficiency or underlying lung disease or the presence of cancer elsewhere in the body which could spread to the lungs, the likelihood of lung cancer at age 21 in an otherwise healthy non-smoker is virtually zero. ...Read more
I'm 25 and am concerned about lung cancer because I am having chest discomfort, small cough. I've never smoked and haven't been exposed to it either.
Not necessarily: If you have a cough that's new or won't go away you definitely should see your primary doc for an evaluation. (if you're coughing up blood, of course you'd want to be seen asap). With your age, if you have a significant smoking hx (>pack/day for 30yrs or more), you may be a candidate for screening chest ct. ...Read more
Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more
The cough reflex is a protective mechanism that uses muscles in your throat and chest to expel mucous and saliva that may contain pathogens that would otherwise possibly be inhaled via aerosol or to expel pathogens infecting the throat and respiratory system.
