How much time after hernia surgery in the groin area?

When is surgery required for an umbilical hernia? My 15 month old still has one. He had hernia surgery@2months for hernias in his groin area.

Maybe never!: 95% or more of umbilical hernias resolve by 4 years old. If it hasn't resolved by then, your child's doctor can refer you to a surgeon. Tape, belly bands, and quarters ('family remedies') actually tend to prevent umbilical hernias from resolving. Unless intestine gets strangulated in the hernia, best to leave it alone for now. ...Read more

Is groin hernia surgery with Prefix Plug Mesh safe? Saw lots of good and bad things about it

Is groin hernia surgery with Prefix Plug Mesh safe? Saw lots of good and bad things about it

Short answer yes: There has been a lot of research comparing the different ways to fix hernias. There is really very little difference. The most important factor is what method your surgeon is most comfortable using. There have been reports of complications with all mesh hernia repairs but are not common. The thing is, repair without mesh is not close to as reliable as with mesh. Talk to your surgeon more. ...Read more

Hello, i had hernia surgery 6 days ago now above my navel thers a hard like lump and very tender is this normal?

Belly Button Bump: Need to know if it was done endoscopically (which I would assume) or via a surgical incision. One of the endoscopic entrance points in around the navel and can leave some swelling as it heals. It should become much less tender after, say,10 days and will take several weeks to completely heal. But--if no endoscope was used, then a doctor would need more info to help decide if related to the surgery ...Read more
