Lump on neck: A lump in the neck is a lymph node. It can be enlarged due to infection, like a sore throat. Or it can be enlarged due to cancer. If it has been there for more than 2 weeks you need to see a ENT doc for evaluation.

My baby is a month old and a couple of days ago I was massaging his neck and I felt a little lump on the back of it. What does it mean?

Probably lymph node: There are several lymph glands located within the structures of the neck & will vary in size from the size of a pea to much larger if stimulated. When stimulated they can enlarge quickly and feel tender to touch or compression. A visit with your dr during regular hours should separate the simple transient issues from those needing further tests.

What does it mean if I have lumps in my neck/ chin? It started out with just one at least a year ago today I noriced there are at least 3

Get checked: A long standing unexplained lump in the neck or chin needs to be checked and sooner is better than delaying. While there are many things that can cause this, most of which are benign, there is a real potential for something very serious. Get started right away.

I bet you're fine: Show your physician at your next office visit, or make an appointment if it keep growing, is stony-hard, and/or sticks to surrounding structures. Most young people have several palpable benign lymph nodes in the neck.

Can a lump on the neck mean cancer?

Can a lump on the neck mean cancer?

Not necessarily: Lumps anywhere are either benign or cancerous. Benign lumps in neck are frequently caused by infections in the throat which are common (colds and coughs due to viruses). But cancer can affect the neck lymph nodes or any other organs like thyroid or inside the mouth, which can show up as an enlarged neck nodes. You need to think cancer when the lump is painless and is continuing to grow for >3-4 wk.

So basically the lump on my left side of neck is like 1 CM or a little bigger, that means I have cancer? Its been there for months and is moveable

So basically the lump on my left side of neck is like 1 CM or a little bigger, that means I have cancer? Its been there for months and is moveable

Probably not cancer: If the neck lump has changed little in one year and is still just over 1 cm, it is probably just a benign (non-malignant) lymph node or a small cyst or lipoma. However, you should have it examined by a medical profession for their opinion.

When there is cancer in the head and neck. Lumps are a symptom. Now do they mean the cancerous lump in lymph nobes? Or lumps grow anywhere In the neck

When there is cancer in the head and neck. Lumps are a symptom. Now do they mean the cancerous lump in lymph nobes? Or lumps grow anywhere In the neck

Cancer head and neck: Cancer has usually moved (metastasized) to lymph nodes as lymph flows out of primary tumor and into lymph nodes as it tries to get back to venous system.

I have a lump behind my ear not on my neck by my hairline it doesn't hurt but what does it mean?

I have a lump behind my ear not on my neck by my hairline it doesn't hurt but what does it mean?

Common problem: This could be a an inflamed hair follicle, a sebaceous cyst, or a lymph node. There are other possibilities to consider. I would recommend seen an ENT physician for evaluation and treatment. This might include antibiotics, topical medications, and possibly removal of the lump.

Blood work came back & my thyroid is at 15. What does that mean? Also I'm gonna need CT neck scan. Dr. Felt lump. What could this mean?

Thyroid dysfunction: Is a very common problem in my patient pool. I think what you mean is your TSH is at a level of 15 which indicates an underactive thyroid. A lump in the neck could mean a thyroid nodule which is also very common and most of the time harmless but nonetheless needs evaluation.
