What Does A Low Tsh Mean On A Blood Test
What does a low TSH score of .08 indicate? I have been takin levothyroxin for 9 years and my last blood test shows a TSH score of .08.
Too much levothyrox?: That result is below the usual target of 0.5-5, indicating that there may be too much T4 (levothyrox) in your system. 1. The doctor who prescribes your T4 should determine whether a dose reduction is needed. 2. If you are feeling well, the first thing to do may be to repeat the test. 3. After 9 years, it is possible that your T4 requirement has indeed gone down and your dose should be lowered. ...Read more

Remember: Hyperthyroidism — which appears to be the case with based on your biochemical studies — can present with a spectrum of symptoms. Not everyone has tremor, palpitations, anxiety, emotional lability, weakness, heat intolerance, increased perspiration, and/or weight loss. But your testing does suggest that you need further evaluation for the cause of your hyperthyroidism. ...Read more
I have blood test results that show low calcium levels, low PTH levels, and confirmed hypothyroidism due to high TSH. What does this mean?
Calcium PTH, Thyroid:
Confirmed hypothyroidism s a clear message that the TSH is working hard to increase thyroid hormone but without success.
Treatment will have to be with thyroid hormone taken by mouth.
Unlikely, but the surgeon might want to remove your thyroid gland since it is not working properly. ...Read more
My TSH level in my last blood test was 3.48 which means my thyroid level is low. I have never had a thyroid problem before but I am now in the early stages of pregnancy. What is the recommended daily dose of levothyroxine to correct my thyroid level?
Not low: A TSH level of 3.48 is normal. Your thyroid is functioning normally. Treating yourself for perceived thyroid disorder is not a good idea. You should consult your doctor. ...Read more

Thyroid testing: The TSH level will be checked, and if it is out of the reference range, the lab will then run a ft4 without requiring the physician to call you in to have blood drawn again. ...Read more
Hypothyroid: A high TSH is consistent with primary hypothyroidism. You should have a free T4 level done. Lh is unrelated to thyroid. A low level could be related to medications, such as an oral contraceptive or other estrogen usage (or testosterone in a male). If your periods are regular, it is likely a lab error. ...Read more

27 yrs old. These years blood work showed: Low TSH, and total T-3 and free T-4 are both high. Last year's test were fine. What could thus indicate?
Mild hyperthyroidism: Unless you are taking thyroid medication (and taking too much) this could mean mild hyperthyroidism. If your doc measured TSH, FT3 and FT4, (s)he must have suspected something. Most likely cause of hyperthyroidism in a 27 yo woman is Graves disease or one of several forms of thyroiditis. You may need to see an Endocrinologist. ...Read more
No: Tsh or thyroid stimulating hormone is only good for assessing thyroid function (either good, overactive or underactive). With that said, during that same blood draw, your blood could potentially be checked for testosterone to determine how much you have. This is best done in the morning. Remember that we really should treat the person (and symptoms), not just a number. Make sure benefit > risk. ...Read more
Blood test says TSH rfx on abnormal to free T4 -349829 and TSH 0.035, T4 free (direct) 1.26 what does this mean?
Hard to say...: It is difficult to say without knowing the units of measurement. For example a free T4 of 1.26 ng/l is normal but 1.26 pmol/l is quite low. A TSH value of 0.035 is defintely low and may indicate an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). Consultation with your doctor or an endocrinologist is recommended. ...Read more
I made a blood test and got sgot = 42 ui/l why is it higher than supposed? And my TSH test =8.6 microui/l what does it mean?

My blood test shows normal tsh. Does this mean the rest of my hormones like estrogen/ Prog r most likely balanced?
Not necessarily: No, the thyroid operates within its own system. It is true though that your entire body needs adequate amounts of thyroid hormone to function normally. Just because you have normal thyroid levels does not necessarily mean you are ovulating and having regular menses (which implies normal estrogen/progesterone levels). Most menopausal women have normal thyroid levels and yet very low estrogen/P4 ...Read more

What does the top number in BP mean? Trouble with tsh level — rapid HR after 2 a.m. bp 133/80 usually 110/78. Blood test — pituitary hormone waiting?
How high it gets: Systolic (top) blood pressure is a measure of the maximum pressure in the arteries during the cardiac cycle, and the diastolic of how low it gets (between heartbeats). Stop worrying about minor fluctuations like this; systolic jumps wildly in everybody. Hoping that you turn out to have a healthy thyroid -- you say yours was removed. In hyperthyroidism, would a low TSH be caused by a pituatary tumor? If so, what would blood tests indicate?
I am 20 weeks pregnant. My blood test results: TSH: 2.61 FT3: 2.38 FT4: 0.59. It seems FT4 is low. What should I do? Do I need to use medicine?
All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, the result of TSH and free T4 do not comport. You should talk to your doctor about repeating the test, before considering thyroid replacement medication.

Blood test show thyroglobulin antibodies is high (low positive). But TSH, Free T4, and tpo is normal. Should i be concerned?
Thyroid disorders: It sounds like your thyroid is functioning well right now, but the high antibody level indicates possible future autoimmune thyroiditis in the future. I'm not sure why you had this full work up. If you are symptomatic of thyroid disease, you might want to see an endocrinologist even with your normal results. If you do not have symptoms, your doctor may want to monitor your TSH periodically. ...Read more
