Had another cbc. My RBC were 5.8. Up from 5.7 , hemoglobin 17.3. Up from 16.9. & hemotacrit 51.0 same as last time. Rdw 11.1. (low) is itpolycythemia?

Yes,i is polycythemi: Are you a smoker, are you living in a hilly area because these things can cause secondary polycythemia by less oxygen in the blood stimulating the bone marrow. NRBC: And the "indices" suggest a need for a heme consult. You didn't mention wbc, platelets or hematocrit/hemoglobin. Nrbc's are immature red cells, but it infers the bone marrow may be crowded out. Not enough data: Most cbc's only tell us what numerically is wrong. The only sure way to tell a CBC is abnormal is to look at the peripheral smear. Your indices indicate that you may be iron deficient, however that requires a thorough assessment for blood loss from the gi, gu and respiratory tract.
