What does a high nuetraphil and low lymphocyte count mean?

What does a high nuetraphil and low lymphocyte count mean?

Both white bld cells: Blood is made up of red blood cells (too few=anemia), platelets (important in clotting) and white blood cells. Normal WBC count is 4-10, 000. Most wbc's are either neutrophils (60-70%) or lymphocytes (30-40%). High neutrophils count (and thus lower lymphocytes) often means a bacterial infection. High lymphocyte ct may mean virus infection. These, of course, are only generalities. ...Read more

I am wondering what having a high % neutrophil count with a low % lymphocyte count means as every time I have a CBC done it shows this.

I am wondering what having a high % neutrophil count with a low % lymphocyte count means as every time I have a CBC done it shows this.

Absolute counts?: If both the absolute neutrophil count and the absolute lymphocyte count are within normal range, simply forget about it. It's you. Trust you are HIV negative. If the absolute lymphocyte count is below 1000, or the absolute neutrophil count consistently above 10000, a hematology consult might be in order. Glad you are proactive; best wishes. ...Read more

What does a high RDW count 15.9, high WBC count 11.3, high neutrophil count 73.0, low lymphocyte count 20.3 mean or possibly indicate?

What does a high RDW count 15.9, high WBC count 11.3, high neutrophil count 73.0, low lymphocyte count 20.3 mean or possibly indicate?

Nothing by itself: I've had my RDW that high just from frequent blood donations. Your absolute neutrophil count is probably high -- did you have a recent infection? A recent cold shower? As a lab specialist, i'm always reminding folks that the numbers by themselves mean nothing except in the context of the history and physical exam. If you feel well and the white cells aren't described as abnormal, don't worry. ...Read more

My 3 yr old has a very high neutrophil count, very low lymphocyte count, high sed rate, low hematocrit. What could be going on with him. Repeat labs?

My 3 yr old has a very high neutrophil count, very low lymphocyte count, high sed rate, low hematocrit. What could be going on with him. Repeat labs?

Infection: The shift to neutrophils and away from lymphocytes occurs during the early stages of fighting an infection or fighting a bacterial infection. The sed rate is a nonspecific marker, that could be up w/infection, or lots of other things. The low hct doesn't fit well, unless just barely out of normal. In any case, at 3 yrs old, needs close exam by pediatrics. ...Read more

My lymphocytes count is 41,absolute neutrophil count 2450 and absolute lymphocyte count is 2009. Haemoglobin 15.4 so why am having elevated count?

Normal: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, the results you provided are normal. for good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 28male. i have a increased lymphocyte count 48.60%(20-40) & decreased segmented neutrophil 37.30 (40-80) & absolute lymphocyte 3.06 thous/mm3? help.

Stop worrying: I'm glad you're interested in your lab work, but you need to know some basics. Percentages mean nothing. The absolute counts are of interest only if they're far removed from the reference range, which is set so that several percent of healthy folks fall outside. If no abnormal forms were found and you are not obviously sick, give this up and be grateful for good health. ...Read more
