What Does A High Mch Value On My Cbc Results Mean
My CBC results showed high MCH, NE%, NE#, and LY#, while the MO% was low. I have rheumatoid and other forms of arthritis. What do these mean?
Medication effect: It is common with RA to have an anemia. It is also common for methotrexate and some of the other RA meds to cause an increase in MCH and especially MCV. MCH is mean corpuscular Hemoglobin. It is a measure of how much hemoglobin is in each cell. NE and LY refers to neutrophils and Lymphpcytes. These are types of white blood cells and can also be affected by your disease and it's treatment. ...Read more

Can you explain results of CBC test shows high wbc, low hematocrit, low mcv, low mch, high platelet count, low lymphocytes and monocytes - what does it mean?
Iron deficiency?: I'm a lab specialist. Labs mean nothing apart from a history and physical exam, and labs aren't simply "low" or "high" -- HOW low / high is key. You owe it to yourself to get with your physician. If this is iron deficiency (which I suspect, rule out thalassemia), your physician has a duty to find out whether, and WHY -- it means serious treatable illness until proved otherwise. Stay proactive. ...Read more
CBC test results: Elevated MCHC, elevated MCH, bottom of range for Haematocrit, everything else within normal ranges. What do these results mean?
Nothing: Your physician may want to repeat them. I trust you do not have spherocytosis or if you do, that you've been worked up. At most, a reticulocye count may be in order. Sometimes the machines can be a bit mis-calibrated. High MCHC is quite uncommon and if you feel well I wouldn't be troubled. Reference ranges are set so that a few percent of healthies fall outside on either end. ...Read more
Large red bloodcells: If the MCH level is over 34, this is considered to be too high. The main reason that the MCH level would be too high is because of macrocytic anemia. Macrocytic anemia is a blood disorder in which not enough red blood cells are produced, but the ones that are present are large (thus fitting more hemoglobin). Macrocytic anemia is often caused by having too little vitamin B12 or folic acid. ...Read more
On a CBC what does it mean when it says MCH is 25.8 mchc is 31.6 both indicating low and RDW is 15.8 indicates a high read?
My CBC results are WBC of 3.5 (low), rbc: normal, hemoglobin 12.3, MCH of 25.2 (low), mchc of 31.5, RDW of 18.4 (high), neutrophils 21, lymphs 74, ?
Need a work-up.: You might have one or more issues here. You have a low WBC count with about 75% lymphocytes, which can mean a leukemia or lymphoma. In addition you've a high RDW and low mch, with a normal rbc count which can mean that cells are being pushed out of your bone marrow by whatever is affecting your wbcs. You should see your doctor for more tests, a look at your blood smear, and a full work-up. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What do both high red and white blood count levels along with low MCH levels and high absolute Neutrophil levels mean on a CBC lab test?

What does low MCV 74 low MCH 23.7 high RDW 16.6 mean? Everything else normal. CMP ,LDH, CBC- freaking out! Can this be Vitamin Deficiency?
Iron deficiency: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, what you provided suggests iron deficiency. Consult the doctor who ordered the tests. You may take oral iron and multivitamin supplements. ...Read more
Im 32 yr male my cbc test result is lymp 41, MCV 76.5 ,MCH 25 ,RBC 5.95, RDW 15.4 rest values are in normal range. any thing serious ??
Focus on Important v: You need to focus on important values which are Hemoglobin(Hb) instead of RBC count and give us your WBC count instead of lymph count and platelet counts. Rest is not important unless the 3 values I have asked you to focus on are high or low(abnormal) which is not the case with you. So your blood test results are fine. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
