A few liver cysts have been found on my MRI. Does this mean I have a specific disease? Will these multiply over time? Is there a test to check for infection?

Hepatic cysts: The cause of most liver cysts is unknown. Liver cysts can be present at birth or can develop at a later time. They usually grow slowly and are not detected until adulthood. They generally don't "multiply" but can grow in size. And while yes infection can cause cystic formations (like those caused by a parasite, echinococcus that is found in sheep in different parts of the world) its pretty rare. ...Read more

U/s for gallbladder polyp and liver cyst came back fine except said spleen mild enlarge 12.2 cm. I am 48 and 5"9. Scared what does this mean?

Nothing serious: Spleen size is somewhat variable in each person. So there is no serious condition which I can think of, when a spleen is reported as "mildly enlarged" Any radiology report which says slight or mild abnormaility is mostly insignificant because a radilogist is not always sure of what may be normal or close to normal. So they often place a comment like this to cover themselves...purely defensive act! ...Read more
