Hi, I have a hietus hernia, lately been having a burning sensation in chest also an uncomfortable feeling between chest, being sick clear sticky fluid.

Hiatal hernia: Small hernias are not to worry about. Your symptoms could be related to reflux disease, which is typically easily controlled with a variety of anti-acid medications. Large hernias, also called paraesophageal hernias, can also cause problems such as pain, difficulty eating, anemia, and bloating. Best to see your primary care provider for a proper eval. Take some tums (calcium carbonate) or rolaids in the meantime. I hope this helps! ...Read more

Second opinion?: Give it some more time - 12 weeks after surgery as long as its not debilitating. If it is still causing problems, and you're not getting a satisfactory explanation, consider a second opinion form a surgeon interested in hernia disease. C Ur Surgeon First: Burning pain is typical of nerve irritation which is not uncommon following hernia repair. While this usually resolves within 6 months, it's persistence warrants intervention. I recommend that you see your surgeon just to be certain that no recurrence exists. If not, it would be appropriate to see a chronic pain specialist. They can identify the responsible nerve and deaden it. ...Read more

What is causing hoarse voice and burning sensation in mouth and tongue randomly? Experience hoarse voice randomly daily after endoscopy a year ago. Inflammation, hiatel hernia found. Experienced sever and constant high anxiety. Taking meds for high bloo

A: A board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, in addition to an ent, would be a good choice since they can evaluate issues within the mouth and upper throat. Burning mouth syndrome is usually due to issues within the oral cavity, but discomfort can extend down the throat. The fact that you have a hiatal hernia and are being treated for reflux is a significant clue to the problem. Even though you may not have symptoms of reflux, it still may be occurring. All of your symptoms can be explained by this. ...Read more

I had two hernia repairs with mesh two weeks ago. I am feeling a burning sensation and stabbing pain in my lower abdomen, fast heart beat, and sweatin?

Not normal: You may want to check your temperature. If temperature > 99.5 Fahrenheit you will need to go to ED or call your surgeon. Are your bowel movements regular? Had hernia repair surgery last december right at the incision and above it jus have this burning pain got a nerve block yesterday but it got worst wa?

Strange,: As my belief was that maybe the pain was due to a peripheral nerve possibly caught in scar tissue. If the injection was in proper place but did not help I would go back to the surgeon -if he was not "the injector:"- let him/her examine you. First one have to eliminate that the complaint id from the surgery before looking for other possibilities. ...Read more

I had a ingunal hernia repair 3 weeks ago. The surgon did it open. I still have burning pain hard to get OOB and a lump under incison site is this ok?

Probably: It is not unusual to have pain 3 weeks after open hernia repair. The burning you feel could be the nerve and his too can be normal in the first few weeks. I have a hiatal hernia that flared real bad burning pain between shoulders and feels like my esophagus is on fire vomiting yesterday is this normal?

No: It sounds like your hiatal hernia is contributing to severe reflux disease (gerd) that requires treatment. You need to at least have medical treatment with a prevacid-type pill, and possibly surgery to correct the hernia (laparoscopic nissen fundoplication). If the severe pain occurred after prolonged vomiting you may have torn your esophagus - go to the er immediately! ...Read more

I have a sharp burning pain to the left and down from my belly button. Had an ultrasound came back as no hernia but the pains still there when I run?

Clinical diagnosis: Hernias are diagnosed by physical examination. Any type of imaging, whether ultrasound, ct scan, or MRI is unreliable and often will not detect a hernia unless there is something stuck in it (i.e., "incarcerated"). So you may still have a hernia despite the ultrasound being negative. If you are concerned with a hernia, consult a board certified general surgeon. ...Read more

I had an hernia repair with mesh 4years ago I have been getting a burning pain in my groin and genitals plus a very bloated stomach any ideas thanks.

Failed hernia repair: I am going to presume that you had an inguinal hernia repair. It seems that maybe that mesh has loosened and some bowel is coming through. This is why you have the referred pain to your groin. If your skin over the area is normal colored, you should call your PCP ASAP for an appointment. If the skin is darker than usual or purplish, you should go to the ER. ...Read more

Ureters: Connect the kidney to the bladder, and the urinary pelvis is the location where they connect. If you are experiencing bleeding from any site, a clot can obstruct the ureter and cause colic. You need a retrograde pyelogram to assess. Cannot fathom how a hernia would cause your symptom complex or blood in urine. You sound like a classic stone passer. ...Read more
