Probably normal: Usually, these are just normal veins. If they shrink when the hand is raised, don't hurt, & are soft, there is most likely no problem. If there is swelling of the arm, pain, redness, or the veins are firm, further evaluation should be done for clot or infection. They can be treated with sclerotherapy to improve appearance if desired. ...Read more

Is there anyway or exercise i can do to reduce d look of bulging veins on my hands n tighten d skin on my fingers? Thanks!
Short of closing them or best removing them there is nothing you can do. I dislike injections as it takes long time to clear them up besides `i have seen residual ugly pigmentation. I remove them with tiny skin openings and hook. One single session in local anesthesia.
Excellent results. I do this since 1995! ...Read more

Is it normal to have bulging veins in your feet, legs, arms, hands if you are skinny and fit for the most part? I'm 24 year old male 158lbs 5"11
Yes: Skinny people have less subcutaneous fat which makes veins more visible. Men tend to have bigger more noticeable veins and physically active people have larger veins to handle the volume of blood required to oxygenate active peripheral muscle in the body. So active men have bigger veins generally than inactive men and most women and in skinny people veins are more apparent. You are normal. ...Read more
Had pain in neck, shoulder, hand and arm.Doc thought pinched nerve, gave me muscle relaxer & pain pills a week ago.Hand still hurts with bulging veins?
I received 20mg of Depo medrol ultrasound injection . My question is if my nerve was injected to the median nerve and caused damage would it effect both sides and chest ? I've had bulging veins burning pain on fire red when actively using my hands .
No: No, the median nerve supplies the thumb, index, and middle fingers; so even extreme damage to the median nerve would not directly affect the chest. But is possible you had more of a systemic reaction to the steroids you were given, although there are other potential causes as well. I would discuss the specifics of your case with your doctor. ...Read more
What causes bulging veins in left wrist? When raising above head veins go normal when laying them down they bulge again
Bulging Veins: Bulging veins in the hands and wrists are often associated with aging, being thin and well hydrated. When the arms are down the blood in your veins have to work against gravity to return to the heart. When you raise your arms the blood flows with gravity to move more quickly toward the heart. Unlike the arteries which pulse blood, the movement of blood in the veins is more passive. ...Read more

A last resort would be removal by micro incisions. ...Read more
Causes of sudden pain/stiffness in the base of both palms (between thumb joint and wrist) accompanied by extremely dark blue/bulging veins-no injury?
Have a bulging vein tender to touch @ wrist (below backside of pinky) for months. Will this get dislodged, travel to lung & kill me if keep sedentary?
No: A small clot on the wrist / hand is too small to cause any serious problems in the lungs if it dislodged & embolized. Also, since it has been there for months it is now chronic & is scarred to the vein wall where it cannot move anymore. The main issue in the pain / tenderness from the chronic phlebitis. If it continues to bother you then see a surgeon about possibly removing the vein. ...Read more

Such problems, which include something called arterial dissection and something called venous thrombosis, could threaten the limb or your life. These sort of symptoms should be evaluated right away. Problems with the large arteries and veins in the neck or in a limb are usually first tested with an ultrasound, using a probe placed on the skin. There is usually no discomfort involved. ...Read more
