Not much information: I presume these were disc bulges noted on a lumbar or cervical MRI. It's not uncommon for disc bulges to be noted on MRI studies. It depends on the size and location whether these are significant lesions. Hydrocephalus: Sounds scary. An ultrasound can be done. Has the head circumference increased more than usual? Is the soft spot compressible? Perhaps it would be wise to check with your pediatrician to see if an appointment before that time would be beneficial. I imagine the neurologist may want to see unusual growth of head circumference prior to referring to a pediatric neurosurgeon for shunt placement. ...Read more

Get help: This does not sound good at all, especially if the anterior fontanelle is flat. I would have a pediatrician or ER doc evaluate this ASAP. Did the child have any recent trauma?
