What does a 9.9 on a herpes IGG test mean? That number is higher than other results posted in forums so I wanted to see if that is a normal result.

What does a 9.9 on a herpes IGG test mean? That number is higher than other results posted in forums so I wanted to see if that is a normal result.

Depends on test: There are several HSV IgG antibody tests, with different numbers for positive results. The most common is HerpeSelect®, for which 9.9 is strongly positive. For other tests this may be negative. If you have the lab report, it should show numbers for negative, indeterminate, and positive, separately for HSV1 and HSV2. Or contact and discuss with the doctor or lab where test was done. Good luck! ...Read more

What does it mean when I have an index value of 20.9 for a herpes i, ii, and IgG test? Lab results

Old infection: I do not know the reference value of the lab that did the test but i assume this is higher than normal and is interpreted as reactive. Yes and yes: Igg antibodies are consistent with previous infection. Since your body never 'clears' the herpes virus once infected with it, one you have it, it is always present in your body (regardless of whether or not you have active symptoms.) you can transmit it. You are more likely to do so when you have an outbreak, but you are capable of transmitting even without active symptoms. ...Read more
