Large blister: Most ovarian cysts are benign and physiologic (meaning part of natural processes and not 'disease' related). A 5.3 cm cyst would be just over 2 inches in greatest size. A common appearance for an ovarian cyst is a thin wall filled with fluid (somewhat simlar to a blister on a toe or heel). Some ovarian cysts can be related to neoplasia / tumor / malignancy. These often have solid coponents. ...Read more
See below: This depends on the organ the cyst is in. I am assuming you're referring to ovarian cysts. If so they are more likely to be complex, with septations & nodules or solid component besides just the fluid component. This is similar to most other organs. Thyroid cysts, however are common and tend to bleed frequently, thus even if looking complex still more likely benign. Biopsy may be needed. ...Read more
Look here: Look here at transvaginal us image of the uterus: http://www.Conciergeradiologist.Com/ultrasound-images.Html. The uterus is generally harder to visualize in its complete extent on transabdominal images, but this is a close approximation of what is seen in transabdominal ultrasound (transvaginal is the better of the two). ...Read more

Increased densities: Liver cancer can look like single or multiple nodules of increased density on the ultrasound. However, ultrasound is not the best, nor is it the final test in the diagnosis of liver cancer. A ct scan with and without contrast or an MRI scan give better visualization. By ultrasound, it is sometimes difficult to differentiate a hemangioma (a benign lesion) from a liver cancer. ...Read more
Breast Imaging: Occurs after finding a lump, or on a screening mammogram. The u/s can show if the lump is cystic or solid, with color, vascularity, and estimate charcteristic of benign or malignant. Current u/s is hand held, done by a tech, and reviewed by a radiologist. It can provide size and shape information, and see if there are other lesions. ...Read more

Depressed: The scar will be low in the abdomen above the pubis, much like a c-section scar. Most likely it will be depressed. Occasionally it may be a thin line but to minimize a scar fine sutures and a good tension relieving subcutaneous layer of slowly absorging sutures needs to be used. If poor healing, bad tension and or an infection result the scar will be wide and need revision. ...Read more

Anatomy, imaging: The glands can be visualized directly (gross anatomy) or non-invasively (through brain MRI, for example). Malignant infiltration alters the features of the lymph nodes, resulting in enlarged nodes that are usually rounded and show peripheral or mixed vascularity. They may have thickened outer wall, internal echoes, cystic changes, internal nodules, and septations. ...Read more
No different: It is impossible to differentiate a solid lump from a cyst by exam alone. However, it is easy to differentiate them by ultrasound or needle-aspiration. Never assume a new lump is "just another cyst"--see your doctor for any new breat lump. ...Read more
