Depends on bug: Currently there are some organisms for which we've no antibiotic therapy. (see pbs frontline on this topic!). Antibiotic overuse, aging population, ability to do more high tech procedures on extremely ill patients coupled w/the lack of return of investment for pharma in developing new agents has led to our failures.
