Find a doc specializes explicitly in treating antibiotic resistant infections? I would guess the # is very small. Infectious doc & other docs failed.

Find a doc specializes explicitly in treating antibiotic resistant infections? I would guess the # is very small. Infectious doc & other docs failed.

Depends on bug: Currently there are some organisms for which we've no antibiotic therapy. (see pbs frontline on this topic!). Antibiotic overuse, aging population, ability to do more high tech procedures on extremely ill patients coupled w/the lack of return of investment for pharma in developing new agents has led to our failures. Look on clintrials.Gov for sites w/studies for some new mdr antimicrobial agents.

How can I get an infection out without a doctor?

From where ?: A bit of an open ended question. How do you know you have an infection, and is it viral or bacterial? You'll need a doctor to diagnose and tell you that. Antibiotics usually will resolve a bacterial infection, but which antibiotic to take for your particular problem is up to your doctor.

What to ask my doctor about my persistent infections?

Infection: Without knowing what specific infections you are referring to and whether attempts to manage or eliminate them have been appropriate my answer may be vague. You should ask if you may have an immune defect, are being consistently reexposed to some organism, have an anatomic abnormality that predisposes you to infection, or whether the infection is of a type that is curable.

Infected bite: Most insect bites can be adequately managed at home with local wound care (washing twice daily with soap and water, then topical antibiotic cream if open). If my CBC shows infection. What would be my doctors next step?

If my CBC shows infection. What would be my doctors next step?

Manage it: CBC itself seldom "shows infection"; I can shoot my white cells to 20,000 by taking a cold water swim. Labs are helpful only adjuncts to the history and physical exam. A few signs on the smear do indicate infection -- microbes in the white cells, for example -- but you'd have been admitted to the hosptial. Best wishes.

My friend went to the doctors because of a water infection and got told they found white cells what is it? And how bad is it? Reply asap

?UTI: Assuming you mean a urinary tract infection when you refer to "water" infection? The urinalysis probably showed leukocytes (wbc's) which is often a sign that there could be a urinary tract infection, which are often easily treatable by the dr. Best wishes.

Plz doctor see this report http://goo.Gl/qyyih & tell me how serious is this. Does mild means a slight infection? How long can it take to cure?

Meningitis: It doesn't look like it is bacterial meningitis as the # of WBC is only 28. Fungal, tuberculosis, viral meningitis are possible. A culture should have been set up to find the causative infection. Based on the ct, there appears to be changes, but again, not pointing to what infection is involved. Wait until the culture results are back if obtained.
