Local reaction: It sounds like he is having a local reaction to the bite. As long as no issues with breathing or swallowing then not likely systemic. Normal to have swelling around a bite and some people react more than others. The eyelid is so thin that the swelling can be much more noticeable than other parts of body. Relax: Mosquito bites are red and itchy. Hydrocortisone cream will help. More potent, prescription steroid creams are more effective. You can also rub with a wet (not coated!) aspirin. May be infected: Since it is red and tender, it may be infected. Any bite can get secondarily infected. I recommend warm water compresses followed by topical antibiotic ointment eg.
