What Do I Put Over A Right Arm Cast To Play Soccer
I fractured my wrist 6 weeks ago (fracture right distal radius). I had a below-the-elbow cast which came off yesterday. I am wearing a splint Would you advice to play soccer on Saturday? What can I wear to protect my wrist further?
Ask your orthopedist: In a young healthy person, at 6 weeks, a fracture is usually healed. However, I do not know the details or severity of your injury. It is easily possible to fall playing soccer and reinjure it, which would be horrible. You need to follow the advice of the person who knows the details of your injury - your orthopedic doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have right arm cast complete fracture radius and ulna cast for a month will it be okay to change the cast?
Depends but: Typically most fracture heal in about 3 months but may continue remodelling for up to a year. After three months most fractures are healed to the point where there are no restrictions. That is also true for compound fractures but it depends on their severity. ...Read more
My 13 yr old daughter upon waking from occasional naps has spasms in her arm, what could be causing this. She plays soccer, and is the goalie.
It has been 2 months since I broke my forearm, when can I play soccer again (no goalkeeping)? Specifically, I only broke my radius
Can't say: It is difficult to say without knowing the fracture type and the extent of current healing it is feasible to think that at 8 weeks you may be able to play with a lightweight cast or custom splint. Regulations may require padding such as bubble wrap. Sorry, but your orthopaedic surgeon is the only one that can make that determination. ...Read more
Fractured my radius and ulna bones playing soccer. The doctor said no work or soccer for 6 weeks but 4 weeks on I don't feel any pain and the arm feels normal so could I play again?
No: I'm assuming your fractures occurred distally (toward the wrist)...If they occurred mid shaft they would require orif (plating).Irregardless, your fractures should be fully healed before resuming soccer (8 wks) unless your are protected in a 'focus rigidity' or similar splint.Even so, you are taking a definite chance of re- fracturing if you return @ 4 weeks. Good luck! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can a soccer player play with a cast on with pins in after surgery for a colles fracture? How long of a return timetable?
Unlikely, should not: If the fracture was severe enough to require surgery, then it would not be wise to risk a fall and waste the progress already made. These fractures typically take 6-8 weeks to heal with fixation, followed by a short period of bracing for rigorous (soccer-like) activity. I would trust your surgeon's judgement on the return date as they would know the severity of your injury. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I broke my ankle playing soccer, eversion motion, x-ray shows mildly displaced spiral fracture at lateral malleolus. Had cast for 8 weeks. Dr said I can start walking even though x-ray still show the break, should I do? How long should take to heal?
When in doubt:
Normally a "displaced" fracture of the distal fibula is surgically repaired. This is because the end of the fibula is needed for ankle joint stability. Your doctor may have felt the fracture did not require surgery, which is very possible. If there is some uncertainty on your part a second opinion is always available.
Swelling on right elbow after falling when playing soccer. Restrictive movements can't stretch fully. Mild pain when trying to.
Elbow swelling: & restricted range of motion. You need to see your doc. He/she may x-ray to see if there is a break or fracture. Peace and good health. ...Read more
What is wrong with my arm? I was playing indoor soccer last night and ran full tilt into the wall, I put my right hand out to protect myself and ever since then I can hardly move it. Most of the pain is in my elbow and it is very swollen. I can't move it
I broke my fibula and had surgery to put a plate and screws in. When can I start playing soccer / hockey again?
Listen to your doc: Your doctor should be able to help you make this decision based on your pain level, range of motion, strength, functional status and appearance of your x-rays. Generally speaking, many with good outcomes can safely return to sports in 4-6 months after this injury. ...Read more

In: In the setting of an acute injury, the inability to bear weight (walk) without significant pain is a possible symptom of a fracture, ligament tear (especially if the knee is unstable), bruise of the joint surface, or meniscal tear. Swelling of the joint is an additional symptom that would increase the likelihood of a more significant injury. These symptoms following injury should be evaluated by your sports physician. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What should I do? I was playing soccer when my friend tripped me. I then fell on my ankle, which is the one that I sprained four months ago. I can't walk on it, or put any weight on it. I don't know if I should use crutches or not! Please help!
I: I recommend that you let your parents know what has happened. I recommend that you be seen by a medical provider to determine the extent of damage to your ankle. In the mean time, rest your foot and ankle, . Your parents can provide you with a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication like motrin, or if they don't have this type of medication, tylenol (acetaminophen) can help the pain. It would be helpful for you to elevate your foot. Prop it up on soft pillows to help prevent swelling. Icing it can also help. Do you have a bag of frozen peas or corn in your fridge - this can be used without cutting open the bag. Can put on your ankle for 15 minutes several times a day. A light bandage can be used for gentle (never overly tight) compression. I recommend that you get your parent's help with this. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hey I'm Paul and 16 yrs. I was playing soccer and while running I hurt my toe it isn't swollen or red put hurts when I try to walk on it?
Let it recover...: You need to stay off of it, apply ice to the area in question rest and elevate it. If the problem does not improve in a day, you should have it evaluated. If the toe improves, then you can hold off for another day or two. As long as the toe is improving with time, it is probably not seriously injured. To remove all doubt have your family doctor or a Healthtap specialist evaluate it. ...Read more
Sprained ankle month ago, never saw dr but xray no break. Yesterday played soccer and it swelled up and cant put weight on it today. Ortho? Boot?
See orthopedist: It sounds as though you had a significant sprain a month ago. Another possibility is there was a fracture that was very subtle and not seen on the x-ray you had. Either way you need to follow up with a specialist for evaluation. In the meantime, ice, elevate and use a compression wrap. ...Read more
