Ankle injury: A long leg pneumatic cam walker would be best. Achilles/Gastroc-soleus complex would be better immobilized. Some of the tendons do cross above the knee joint. MRI is best for ankle injury. Good luck ...Read more

Should be okay: if you can walk then its likely not fractured. the bruising is from the impact and will take 5 to 10 days to go away as it settles down to your ankle. numbness should also resolve on its own. as comfort allows increase your activity. if it gets worse, you should have xray. ...Read more

Broke my foot last Friday. There was no swelling or bruising. tonight I noticed a large blue bruise in the area of the break. Gone to work. bad idea?

What Fracture ?: A broken foot can describe a lot of things. There was no swelling or bruising for 6 days. I can only assume there was no or minimal pain, since you did not mention it. Just how bad could it be broken? One way to find out is to have the foot evaluated to identify the total extent of the injury. If it is broken, to any extent, it has to be stabilized, most commonly by a cam walker. Now, you decide. ...Read more

I have a bug bite that is circular, swelling a little bit, sensitive to touch, light red in color but with a dark red dot in the middle. What is it?

No particular bug: Bug bites are rarely unique to a specific insect. Flea bites are small and have little clear vesicles and extreme itching but this is not unique to fleas either. This lesion could be a sting or a bite, it is impossible to say. Watch for signs of infection: pus, increasing pain, redness & see doc if that happens. If numbness, tingling or severe pain,or fever, head to the ER. Tetanus shots current? ...Read more

I am 27 no chance to be pregnant I have noticed dark blue veinsand swelling a slihht pain should this be a cause for concern wat could it be?

I am so sorry: I can't help you more. I can't tell from your question where the blue veins and swelling are...possibly the vulvar area with your reference to pregnancy? Or maybe over the lower abdomen? These symptoms are minor enough that I think you can watch and wait up to a couple weeks. If they worsen or persist longer than that, however, see your doctor promptly. Good wishes:) ...Read more

My ankle keeps uncontrollably twitting swelling up and going blue. What can I do for this?

Ankle swelling: For ankle swelling resting is important but probably the hardest to do, icing around the area, compression with comfortable ace-bandage, and elevation. Taking antiinflammatory medication (advil, ibuprofen, motrin, etc) can be helpful the first few weeks after to help decrease pain and swelling. Also, getting over counter ankle bracing may help. ...Read more

Can blue dye, such as fd&c blue no. 2, cause an allergic reaction such as swelling?

Possibly: I suspect the answer is yes. 11 patients with chronic, unexplained itchy skin rashes that responded to medication changes centered around avoidance of coloring agents, fd&c blue no. 1 (bright blue) and blue no. 2 (indigo carmine). Reactions to agents that color medications and foods may be more common than previously appreciated. This is from journal of drugs dermatol. 2013;12(1):99-102. ...Read more

My toes are swollen and cold and they are blue , what should I do? When I try to worm them the swelling increases

Needs evaluation: Toes and other extremities can be swollen for a variety of reasons: injury, exposure to cold temps, etc. Based on your description, i would recommend evaluation by your pcp or a vascular surgeon. There are some common conditions (raynauds) which can cause the symptoms you describe but more serious problems need to be ruled out first. ...Read more

I gat a swelling on my forehead which I have been treating..I applied ice to it and d skin round d swelling turned ligther dan oda parts..what do I do?

Swelling: If this wasn't caused by injury, it could be an inclusion cyst. If it developed after a blow to the forehead, it most likely is a hematoma(blood collection under the skin) which is treated with cold applications(to stop the bleeding) for a couple of days and then warm applications which helps break it down. However It's best to be examined by a physician for diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more
