My baby has fluid blisters on his arm and then also on his face appearing just today. Could it look like herpes and be something else?

My baby has fluid blisters on his arm and then also on his face appearing just today. Could it look like herpes and be something else?

Rash: Rashes are so difficult to diagnose, without looking at them. Also, I don't know your baby's age. If baby is a newborn, he/she would more than likely be deathly sick with herpes. With older children, there are many rashes, like this. If itchy, it could be poison ivy. Chicken pox, also itchy, if baby has not been immunized against it. Herpes is very painful, and usually is not widespread, like thi. ...Read more

I'll take a shot: I'm not certain of all your words due to typos, but herpes does typically look like a small cluster of blisters on the skin, but on the genital/vulvar tissues it is more like open sores that are ulcerated/have an irregular surface. They are painful and itchy and testing is usually possible. Persist with efforts to get diagnosis if symptoms persist; current & future therapy is specific & effective. ...Read more

You don't: As common as HSV1, the cause of herpes is, the possibility of it being herpes is high. You can have a test done by your doc to be sure. Good oral hygeine and lack of intimate contact until you do know would be prudent. ...Read more

I have these red what look like hard blisters that have come up in and around my vagina, they are itchy and at times painfull. Is this likely to be herpes?

I have these red what look like hard blisters that have come up in and around my vagina, they are itchy and at times painfull. Is this likely to be herpes?

Maybe: First of all blisters are not generally hard. Blisters around the vagina are commonly viral and most commonly a form of herpes. If these are recurrent then I would say this is highly likely herpes. If the "blisters" are hard and not fluid containing then not herpes. You should be seen by a doctor at the time they are present. No sex while they are evident. ...Read more

Had a sore close to clitoris it only hurted when touched nor did it form little blisters, doctor say it didn't look like herpes. What are the odds?

Had a sore close to clitoris it only hurted when touched nor did it form little blisters, doctor say it didn't look like herpes. What are the odds?

See below: HSV 2 doesn't always present as tiny blisters. Best way to tell is to test fluid or smear from the lesion. If this isn't practical then a serologic antibody test for HSV 2 can be helpful IF you have never had HSV2 before this. It can take up to 2 weeks to turn (+) after contracting HSV2. if the test is (-) then it isn't HSV2. If (+) it suggests it is Herpes. ...Read more

Need biopsy: The base of these needs to be scraped and examined under the microscope for cells with inclusion bodies. Hand foot and mouth disease usually has a maculopapular rash caused by intestinal viruses of the picornaviridae family. commonly Coxsackievirus A16 and Enterovirus 71 but these are seldom painful. See a dermatologist. Best wishes. ...Read more
