Hi, suspecting pregnancy, have nausea and vomiting but no bumps on areolas some pores look like they are opening on my nipples, NT like shown on net?
Are darkened areolas a reliable symptom of pregnancy at 6/7 dpo? Or too early? I weaned my toddler a month ago. I just noticed this change today.
Patience: No. At 6-7 days after ovulation, there is no sign or symptom that says there is a pregnancy, and there is no sign or symptom that says there is not a pregnancy. It is too early for one to be thinking about pregnancy. A woman can start thinking about pregnancy if her period is missed, about 2 weeks after ovulation, and do a home pregnancy test a few days after that. Patience is a blessing. ...Read more
Do areolas typically darken with age? Over the past few days they've been sore and darkening&pretty sure not pregnant. 2wks until next period.
Get a pregnancy: Test now. If negative, wait a week, then check another pregnancy test. If negative again, wait another week, check another pregnancy test. Don't convince yourself that you are not pregnant until you have had 3 negatives in 3 weeks and your period has returned. Areolas should not change color much, but they do "shrink" with age. They will enlarge and look more robust with pregnancy. ...Read more

Life's little issues: Yes, this is one of life's "little" issues as usually one breast is also larger than the other, thus the areola will also be of different sizes. No, there is nothing you can do about Mother Nature's construction. ...Read more

Engorgement: Breast tissue normally expands, and later becomes engorged. The stretching of the skin around the breast can often lend itself to pain around the areola. The areola is also hypersensitized during pregnancy and after delivery to help with breastfeeding and this can cause some irritation/pain as well. My wife used cocoa butter when she was pregnant and it helped her. Ob will have other treatments. ...Read more

Hard to guess: A urine pregnancy test, done correctly, gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon, and thus lead to a repeat test. If a woman gets her normal regular period, then she is not pregnant, and a test is not needed. ...Read more

My left areola circumference is 1cm bigger than the right side. I am just 25 and am not pregnant. I noticed the difference since a couple of months?
Common: No one is exactly symmetrical and it is more obvious in some than in others. I have had one patient who was a breast size AAA on one side and D on the other and have known people who have to buy 2 pairs of shoes in order to fit both feet. These are the extremes but do speak to our asymmetry. As long as size is the only difference, it is normal. ...Read more

I'm 24 weeks pregnant and only have two montgomery tubercules on left areola and four on the right. Is it a sign of problem?
No problem! :): Montgomery tubercles are simply raised areas of glands in the areola (the colored part of the breast surrounding the nipple). They secrete oils and can become enlarged, especially in pregnancy. Most women have between 4-26 glands per areola. If the area surrounding this gland becomes hot, swollen, tender, hard -- that could be an infection, and see md. Otherwise, is very normal in pregnancy! ...Read more
