Headache x5days Motrin, Tylenol, Excedrin not helping Right back of head sharp pain/pressure Feels like I was hit in the head, dizziness on and off?

New headache: This sounds new. Any new headache refractory to pain medication and with associated symptoms such as fever, confusion, muscle weakness, dizziness, or vision change needs evaluation. Although still more likely to be transient/treatable, I would recommend seeing your physician or heading to the ED if the pain is unremitting. ...Read more

Which is better and the most effective tylenol (acetaminophen) or Excedrin for tension headache / migraine?

Which is better and the most effective tylenol (acetaminophen) or Excedrin for tension headache / migraine?

Depends: Excedrin contains tylenol (or acetaminophen)/caffeine/aspirin. For some people, tylenol alone can help with their headache. For more severe headache/migraine, excedrin might help better since it has caffeine which helps to constrict your blood vessels. In both cases, it will not treat/cure your headache, but it will help with the pain. ...Read more

Headache: This headache sounds pretty severe. It appears you have a history of migraine. Is this one similar or much worse? Migraines shouldn't last more than 3 days. I've been getting sharp headache pains at the top of my head. I took Tylenol, (acetaminophen) that didn't work. It just started today. Should I be worried?

I've been getting sharp headache pains at the top of my head. I took Tylenol, (acetaminophen) that didn't work. It just started today. Should I be worried?

Likely your scalp: Your head is covered with muscle and skin with blood vessels, lymph vessels and small nerves. Together this is called your scalp. Your description sounds like some of the small nerves in the area where your headache is have been irritated. You could have a bite, pimple, brushed or combed too hard, hit the area for a few possible causes. Try like Ibuprofen if no med problems. See MD if persists. ...Read more

Had a strong headache took 500 mg. Tylenol (acetaminophen). Head suddenly stopped hurting about 8 hrs after that. Would meds take that long to work?

Not Tylenol (acetaminophen)...: Acetaminophen, or Tylenol (acetaminophen), (acetaminophen) typically does not take 8 hours to work. As a matter of fact, a healthy adult could even take another dose 4 hours after the first one. So, your headache probably resolved on its own with the Tylenol (acetaminophen) having minimum effect. If you continue to be bothered by headaches like this, check in with your family doctor for diagnosis/ treatment. ...Read more

Every now and then I wake up with a headache, I took tylenol (acetaminophen) I still have a headache that always on the side of my head. Could this be from coumadin?

Every now and then I wake up with a headache, I took tylenol (acetaminophen) I still have a headache that always on the side of my head. Could this be from coumadin?

It's possible: Headaches could have one of many possible causes. A coumadin-related headache would be very worrisome since it could be caused by a bleed in your head. The higher your inr (coumadin (warfarin) blood test), the greater the risk of a bleed if you hit your head. High blood pressure and migraine are two other causes and the list of others is long. Get your inr and BP checked; tell your md of your headaches. ...Read more

Major headache on left side after tylenol (acetaminophen) overdose 2days ago feels like a lot of pressure in my in head?

Tylenol (acetaminophen) OD: I have a few questions. Did you mean to overdose? How much did you take? Were you seen by a doctor? A tylenol (acetaminophen) overdose can be very dangerous and the effects aren't seen immediately, but it is toxic to your liver.! 5 pills of Extra strength tylenol (acetaminophen) at one time or in a day is considered an overdose. Super bad headache mainly in the back of my head to my neck but throbs in the the front. I Have taken tylenol (acetaminophen) but it hasn't helped?

Neck & Headache: Some types of headaches are, in fact, stress headaches. In this case, the muscles in the shoulder and neck are extremely tense or tight. They cause the muscles in the front of the head (the frontalis) to be pulled or spasm. Therefore, the individual can have pain in the back of the neck and pain in the front of the head. You should also see a MD to make sure that this is a tension related headache ...Read more
