What could I be allergic to if itching after general anesthesia and on pain med?

What could I be allergic to if itching after general anesthesia and on pain med?

Maybe not allergic: It's not unusual for pain medications such as morphine, demerol, or Dilaudid to be associated with some itching. They all can cause histamine release. This doesn't necessarily mean you are allergic to them. True allergy produces severe symptoms such as hives and trouble breathing. Sometimes Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can help with itching. Or you can ask your doctor to try a different pain medication. ...Read more

See a doctor: There are specific infections which may occur in people who garden a good deal, particularly actinomycosis, which can cause the changes you are describing. This can cause vein thrombosis and blood clots, which can cause harm, and the infection can also spread. Check the product you were using for any advice, but somebody should examine this to give you the best advice. ...Read more

8 days post tonsillectomy, severe pain on 1 side and earrache and also im sure I might be swallowing pus? Im not sure if this is to be expected?

Probably normal: It can take a couple of weeks for you to get over it. The ear pain is common. You may want to chew on gummy candy or gum to see if that loosens up some of the throat muscles spasms. Ask your ENT if they're okay with you using Motrin as that can really help. Use a nasal saline mist hourly while awake if still having a lot of mucous, or at least saline gargles. Or see your ENT for a recheck. ...Read more

Bladder biopsy : I can think of only one common reason to perform a bladder biopsy on a 21-year-old female. I, however have always performed these in conjunction with hydrodistention of the bladder under general or IV sedation. ...Read more

Why do I have a fever 3 days after root canal while on clindamycin by the dentist there is also some swelling? What can it be? No other symptoms.

It may: Be a coincidence. If you have increased swelling, pain or signs of infection, see your dentist. Otherwise it is likely a viral cold unrelated to your dental treatment. It should be better in 10 days to two weeks. If on the other hand you start feeling worse, see your physician. ...Read more

I have a little bit of hives on my neck from an allergic reaction, if i was to take a percocet, would it effect the hives at all or cause more ?

I have a little bit of hives on my neck from an allergic reaction, if i was to take a percocet, would it effect the hives at all or cause more ?

Be a role model: On a friday night, 22-year old female with hives, only medical problems listed in profile "allergic reactions" & only medication listed Benadryl (diphenhydramine) (not percocet!), suggest treating your hives as follows: stay home, read, watch a movie, drink chamomile tea & do not take percocet. This may or may not cure your hives, but will certainly prevent "irreversible hives" to your soul caused by percocet. ...Read more

What should my fiancé do he had been experiencing some abdominal pain due to a hemorrhoid and can also see it from a certain angle please advise?

What should my fiancé do he had been experiencing some abdominal pain due to a hemorrhoid and can also see it from a certain angle please advise?

Not possible: Hemorrhoid tissue is a normal part of our anatomy found at the very end of the rectum/anus. It would be impossible for them to be related to abdominal pain. Now constipation can cause abdominal discomfort and straining can cause the hemorrhoids to flare up. Most important thing to prevent constipation and therefore hemorrhoid flare ups is adequate fluid and fiber in your diet. ...Read more

I take QVAR 2 months now. I experience numbness face swelling and throat closing when consuming alcohol. Could this be an allergy to the medicine?

No: Although QVar can cause oropharyngeal candidiasis (yeast infection), it would not cause these symptoms which are solely triggered by alcohol. If you have these symptoms no matter what kind of alcohol you consume, then avoid alcohol altogether . If you have these symptoms only with wine and beer, then consider sulfite sensitivity. Post. ...Read more

I am experiencing urethral discharge and penis pain. The following also describes me: Pain with urination. What should I do? Is it possible if having these symptoms and it be unrelated to sex

See a doc: You need a formal evaluation, an urethral discharge in a 20 year old male definitely warrants STD check up. A lot of young adults are asymptomatic; risks are for gonorrhoea and chlamydia. It is in my opinion more important to find out what you have and help you get better. For that you will need to be seen and they will need to run some tests on the discharge or urine most likely; be safe. -Peace. ...Read more
