What Could Cause Vaginal Bleeding 2 Years After A Partial Hysterectomy
Needs evaluation: Some people develop extra tissue at the back of the vagina called granulation tissue. This can be removed in the office. If you still have your cervix then some people continue to have light periods. Bleeding 2 years after a hysterectomy needs to be evaluated by your surgeon in the office. ...Read more
Hello. I had an partial hysterectomy 2 years ago. Now I am having vaginal bleeding. Why an what causes this to happen?
Still bleeding: Hi! It's unusual and generally abnormal to bleed after having a hysterectomy. However you stated that you had a partial hysterectomy which may mean that your cervix was left behind and that can cause bleeding. Another reason for the bleeding be that something could be irritating the vaginal incision from your hysterectomy. Either way, I strongly recommend you see a gynecologist. Good Luck! ...Read more
See your GYN: In the process of healing, any incision can develop granulation tissue, which is normal collection of blood vessels and connective tissue. Granulation tissue can also form at the top of the vagina in the months after hysterectomy. You should see your gyn to determine the source of the bleeding, and if it is granulation tissue it can be easily treated in the office. ...Read more
Is it possible to have unknown gonorrhoea for 10 years with an only symptom: vaginal bleeding? During hysterectomy dr found me fitz hugh curtis syndr
Gonorrhea: Unusual but conceivable. Women can be long term asymptomatic carriers of neisseria gonorrheae, and have acute infection reactivated by a variety of mechanisms. You may have gotten infected more recently (do not know your sexual history), or perhaps the diagnosis was incorrect (would need more info and records). Why not discuss with the diagnosing doctor? ...Read more
Why was the hysterectomy done? If for benign reasons, most likely reason is also benigh - vaginal atrophy.
If you had cancer or pre-cancer as the reason for hysterectomy, then you need to be checked right away.
Either way, get to your gyn and let him/her get answers for you!

Vaginitis: When they do a hysterectomy, they close the end of the vagina and there is no connection with the internal organs. So, bleeding occurs locally in the vagina. Infectious causes? Bacterial vaginosis, yeast or trichomonas. After hysterectomy and with aging the vagina can also be bleeding from diminished estrogen hormone that normally maintains the lining. Sometimes bleeding from urine confused. ...Read more
Which are the causes of vulvar bleeding\u0026#40; not vaginal bleeding\u0026#41;? No other symptoms. In 2008 I did hysterectomy. Thanks
Many possibilities: The first thing to do is to look at your vulva and see if there is anything there. Sometimes that is hard to do, so I recommend seeing an ob/gyn. There are many reasons for bleeding including skin condition, infection, itching, and tumors. ...Read more
I had a vaginal mesh implanted and bleed from time to time. Also I have no monthly had a partial hysterectomy. Where's the bleeding coming from?
See details: If you had a partial hysterectomy, then you will not get a period. If the cervix was left behind, sometimes it can be a source of blood. More concerning is that you have vaginal bleeding and this is in the setting of vaginal mesh. You need an exam to make sure that there are no vaginal erosions or exposure of the mesh material. ...Read more
I have vaginal bleeding. I did hysterectomy and ovariectomy. I take HRT. The swab is negative. No athrophy. Could it be an hormonal disbalance?
Depends: This depends on how long ago the hysterectomy was. If it was done within the last 3 months, the most common cause is development of granulation tissue where the vaginal stitches were. If the hysterectomy was years ago and no bleeding occurred until just recently, the bleeding may be coming from the bladder instead of the vagina. Bottom line: you need to see the gynecologist for an evaluation. ...Read more

Hysterectomy 24 yrs ago. Uterus & cervix removed. Vaginal bleeding. Family Dr. Says it's a polyp. Have a referral to see Gyn. What happens now? I'm 66
Polyp: If there is a polyp there, it is likely that the doctor will remove or at least biopsy it. After a hysterectomy or menopause the most common reason for bleeding is the thinning of the vaginal tissue due to low estrogen levels. This is called atrophic vaginitis. Occasionally, after a hysterectomy there will be granulation tissue or "proud flesh" at the cuff which can resemble a polyp and bleed. ...Read more

Cervix in or out?: If your "partial hysterectomy" means that the cervical stump remains then you need to have your GYN MD check for cervical lesions including a pap smear. Cervical cancer can occur in the remaining stump and endometrial tissue from an incomplete cervical/uterine removal can bleed. No cervix present can yield bleeding from the vaginal cuff post intercourse. Get examined by your GYN surgeon soon. ...Read more

Vaginal atrophy: It needs to be clarified whether or not you still have a cervix. If you still have a cervix, then you might be bleeding from the cervix. If you do not have a cervix, then vaginal bleeding is probably related to "thinning" and fragility of the vagina that comes with menopause. In either case, you must schedule a visit with an ob/gyn. ...Read more
