Where and when?: There are so many many causes of abdominal pain and so i can't really tell what you have. Upper, middle, r upper/l upper, lower/pelvic areas? When does the pain occur? During/around period time? With meal/food? Common in 20 y/o female is irritable bowel, menstrual cramps, reflux/dyspepsia, maybe gallbladder trouble, or pancreatitis(after alcohol binge) etc.. Yes: People with sore ribs typically won't take the usual number of deep breaths or big sighs in a given time period (say per hour) that we all usually unconsciously do. This is called 'splinting' in medical lingo, and can lead to shortness of breath. Rib stuff is hard; you simply have to deal with the discomfort until they heal up.
