What Could Cause Nasal Congestion And Irritated Nasal Passages No Runny Nose Or Sneezing
How do you distinguish if sneezing is from allergies or from common cold? mainly sneezing, no cough, itchy throat and nose, sinus pressure, congested
Allergies: All of the symptoms you describe sound allergic. If you develop a cough with mucus, a sore throat, and/or a low grade fever - that would be more like a cold. The best way to distinguish would be to see an ENT physician - the appearance inside the nose of an allergic patient is very unique. ...Read more
This is a symptomatic disorder of the nose characterized by inflamed nasal mucosa. Groupings of rhinitis exist triggered by infection, allergy, non-allergic triggers/exposure, meds, immune disorder, and/or structural problems in the nose. Sinusitis can...: Perhaps, but it is still likely due to an occlusion of drainage of the sinus. Most sinusitis is not a bacterial infection without signs such as discolored nasal mucous, increasing sinus pain, possibly fever, and usually has been going on for at least a week. Sinusitis can still occur from allergies or viral infections, and can present with clear mucus. Try afrin nasal, decongestants. ...Read more
Can a sinus infection cause nose bleed? How come my symptoms such as hoarseness, sore throat, runny nose, and nasal congestion only getting worse?
Sinuses & Epistaxis.: The inflammation caused by sinus infection, along with the pure violence of constantly blowing your nose, can lead to nosebleeds in the context of a sinus infection That being said, sinus infections tend to be bacterial, so you may be getting worse because you need an antibiotic. ...Read more
Can Ipratropium Bromide nasal spray help with post-nasal drip? No runny nose or front nasal discharge, just the drip. Not linked to allergy (per ENT)
Depends: It depends on the cause for the post-nasal drips. If the nasal drips is not linked to nasal stuffiness, sneezing, or runny nose, one needs to consider other causes (sinus infection for example). If your nose and eyes itch, it is likely from allergy which can confirmed by the history and skin testing. One can't tell whether one has an allergic problem by looking at the nose and throat alone. ...Read more
Does a cold also cause an itchy nose including sneezing, nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, and body aches?
Stuffy nose, no runny nose nor any other allergy symptoms.....but i have dizziness with it, is stuffy nose possibly causing the dizziness?
Possible: Stuffy nose means that the nasal tissues are secreting too thick of the discharge and it is blocking the passage. It can also be associated with the tubes that Adrian from ear to the throat. Once this tube is blocked, the fluid can be backed up and can lead to equilibrium issues. So you may need to address nasal issue and the dizziness will go away. Good luck. ...Read more

Have nasal congestion, runny nose and sneezing made worse when exposed to low temperature. Nose blocks after sneezing. Do I have nonallergic rhinitis?
Possible: But in my experience, having sneezing spells (especially if you have eye symptoms) points more to allergic than non-allergic. Nonallergic rhinitis is a diagnosis of exclusion also since one needs to prove that allergies do not play a role. You may also have both allergic and non-allergic rhinitis as well. Try a nasal steroid spray ...Read more

Symptoms: nasal congestion and very bad smell from nose, no sinusitis but enlarged turbinates. Could surgery help eliminate the smell?
Not sure: Turbinate surgery is performed by a variety of techniques to improve breathing and I am not sure the odor would disappear. You need a nasal endoscopy to rule out an infection in the nose. If you already have had such a procedure and everything was normal and sinus disease has been ruled out, think of high reflux of gastric acid, so called LPR (laryngo-pharyngeal reflux). ...Read more
