What Could Be The Cause Of A Black Spot In My Vision When I Blink
Earlier when I cried I noticed some blood in the corner of my eye. What could be the cause for that?
YerGuessAsGoodAsMine: I've heard of a bleeding heart, a bloody mess, microphone bleed, and "Let It Bleed," but the eye? Were you rubbing it? Could it have been makeup? Strawberry Eyes Cream? Were you near a stuck pig? You didn't have a nose bleed, did you?(it can leak back up through a lacrimal (tear) duct.And-are you sure it was blood? Every now and then a small blood vessel can pop but it usually leaves a mark. So??? ...Read more

I get a pain in my eye everytime I move it. When the pain happens a big black dot appears in my vision. What could cause something like this?
Inflammaton: Read pain with eye movement can be a sign of a serious eye problem like inflammation of the optic nerve; however, a small back spot or spots are floaters and usually are not anything significant. If it is a large black spot obstruction your vision then it may be bleeding or some other inflamed problem with the retina, then i suggest you be examined by an eye md, that is an ophthalmologist. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have a swollen area on the inside of my left eye on the white part only I have also been experiencing black spots floating around in my vision in both eyes what is causing it and what should I do about it?
Swollen: I am worried about the spots-- you may have a retinal tear or detachment. Seek care soon from your local ophthalmologist. The swollen area on your sclera should also be checked. ...Read more
I have a pinching feeling in my left eye. Also in the dark feels as though i can't see out of it. What could cause this?
Depends: I am guessing all of this is the left eye only and the right is normal. Nerves around the eye fire occasionally and commonly in the middle years which could explain the pinch. Lowered vision in the dark only (normal during the day?) could be an inherited retinal problem but not likely to be trauma or infection. If persistent, this needs an ophthalmologist to sort it out. ...Read more
Many causes: You need to have this checked because there are many possible causes of this. A new floater is a common cause, but the floater would tend to move around and not be exactly in the center of the vision. All other causes are mostly involving the retina, so a dilated eye exam by an ophthalmologist is indicated. Even if it just a floater, the dilated exam is indicated to rule out a retinal tear. ...Read more
Unsure: A black discolored lesion of the skin, regardless of where on the body, can always raise the suspicion of melanoma, worst-case scenario. I would recommend proper serial/consecutive exams. If the lesion seems to change in size, color, have associated skin ulceration or hair loss or even bleed, then it may need to be biopsied for a definitive diagnosis. ...Read more
Need eye exam ASAP: There are many possible causes. If the blind spot was temporary and the visual loss completely resolved, this could be a visual migraine (which usually affects both eyes) or even a transiet ischemic attack (TIA) - which is much more serious and should be evaluated immediately. If the loss remains, retinal problems such as a vein occlusion, retinal detachment, or an optic nerve problem are possible. ...Read more

Floater: If the black spot moves with blinks, then it's likely in the vitreous. If not new and only one without flashes or decreased vision, may not be anything serious. If it's a fixed black spot, then should be checked out for a potential retinal or brain problem. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My right eye seems to have a piece of fuzz on the side and a small black floating dot. Any thoughts as to why? What could it be?
Vitreous separation: hopefully, which is common and usually not serious, or retinal detachment, which is a very serious problem that could cause loss of sight. It is IMPOSSIBLE to tell which of these is happening without an examination of the inside of the eye with a special scope and preferably by a specialist. You need to be seen, TODAY, in an ED that has an opthalmologist on call. Good luck! ...Read more
I have recently discovered a small round spot or lump on the eyelid of my right hand eye, it sometimes hurts and has just ever so slightly blurred the vision of my right eye. What could this be?
Lump in lid: Most likely this is a "chalazion". A cyst-like formation resulting from a specialized oil producing gland that has become blocked. It often needs to be excised surgically, but in the early stages may respond and resolve with wam compresses and antibiotic/steroid drops or ointments. Some ophthalmologists may prefer to inject the "lump" with a steroid injection with generally good response. ...Read more
