What Causes Tinnitus In Both Ears
Is it normal to get ear pain and tinnitis when you push hard against the masseter? Can this last for weeks? Can one side cause problems for both ears?
Yes: Pushing the masseter muscle can hurt the ear and also close the canal. It can cause symptoms of TMJ disease, especially if there is any problems in the canal. If the canal is closed you may hear abnormal sounds or sounds that you didn't notice. It is often hard to localize the side these sounds come from. Inner ear problems can cause similar symptoms. See ENT doc. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What can cause tinnitis, pain and crackling in both ears other than tmj, etd and inner ear infection?
See otologist: Sounds like you've seen an ENT doc. I think you need a more specialized opinion. From an otologist. An otologist is an ENT doc who has done a fellowship in ear disease only. Aside from ear and TMJ, no other viable cause of tinnitus exists. Also Make sure you've ruled out TMJ not by a dentist, but a TMJ expert. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

When I run, I get tinnitus accompanied by sharp pain in both ears and also pain radiating from my shoulders down to my lower abdomen. What's wrong?
TMD: When you run, the air passing your ears is also passing by the muscles of the jaw. It is well known that tmd (temporo-mandibular disorder) can cause tinnitus, even though tinnitus is now considered to be the result of synchronous neural discharge from the central auditory nervous system. I am not qualified to discuss the other pain problem. Have your dentist check your bite. Do you clench teeth. ...Read more

Unlikely to help ears, however, so see audiologist to get that addressed. ...Read more

I am so sick of tinnitus, how could TMJ cause ringing in the ear, is their nerve between TMJ & ear?
3 theories: 3 theories behind why TMJ problems may cause/worsen tinnitus. 1)the chewing muscles are near some muscles that insert into the middle ear so may have effect on hearing, and so may promote tinnitus. 2)can be a direct connection between ligaments that attach to jaw and one of middle ear hearing bones.3)nerve supply from TMJ has connections with parts of brain involved with both hearing & sound inter ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
