What can cause swollen glands under chin like close to the throat?! help please freakin out! I have a tooth abcess! Do I have ludwings agnia?

Abscessed tooth: An abscessed lower back tooth can cause swollen glands in the area you describe. Your glands (lymph nodes) swell up when they are fighting an infection in that area. This is what they are supposed to do. It is unlikely that you have ludwig's angina. Regardless you need to see a dentist or an oral surgeon tomorrow morning. They may place you on an antibiotic to help shrink the infection.

Submental nodes: Submental nodes need more investigation. I recommend visiting an ENT surgeon. You have had previous thyroid issues. Oral cavity needs investigation by dentist. Head and neck full exam. Weight loss? See ENT and dentist.

I have swollen glands under chin cos I had a sore throat and now a cold sore. When cold sore will be gone, how long does it take for glands to settle?

A while.: A first time cold sore might take 1-2 weeks to completely resolve and the nodes could stay swollen for a month or more. Subsequent outbreaks usually resolve more quickly. The lymph nodes may never go back to their initial size but should be less than 1 cm in size and not be tender when everything settles down.

Please get a strep: Throat culture/ test. Antibiotics are imperative for strep throat. Try saltwater gargles. Mix tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle w this several times/day. You can gargle w aloe vera juice a couple of times per day. A mix of chamomile tea w honey ; a small amt of lemon juice helps.

I have 2 swollen glands on neck under chin for several months & feel very tired, Should I see a Dr for this?

I have 2 swollen glands on neck under chin for several months & feel very tired, Should I see a Dr for this?

Yes: Are the "glands" underneath the jaw further back, or right at the chin? Most likely lymph nodes, but there are other causes. A viral infection is the most likely, but I would have a doctor check it out, as there are some more serious problems which could cause this.

I woke up with 2 painful swollen glands, the size of a pea (little smaller) under my chin. It hurts to eat or chew. It's been a day. What from?

Lymph nodes: Most likely these are submental lymph nodes that drain infection or inflammation in skin of the chin, lower lip and gums, front floor of mouth, lower incisors, and tongue tip. They may be the first indication of canker sore. Location of pain with eating or chewing probably is site of the primary problem. May need dental or ENT eval for definite diagnosis.

Bug bites? Shots?: Glandular swelling can be a non specific response to vaccines or systemic viral illnesses, even if there are no other outward signs of the illness. Bug bites or skin rashes can also lead to regional node swelling.

My son is getting over a 3 day fever. Fever gone. He has swollen glands on the back of one side of his neck only and under on side of chin. Normal?

Lymphadenopathy: These lymph nodes are busy doing what they are supposed to, fighting inflammation and helping to eliminate whatever your son had that was producing fever. They will return to normal in time. Best wishes for the holidays.

Swollen glands: You can take antiinflammatories for the pain and swelling, but get examined to evaluate these swollen glands and any potential source on why they are swollen.
