Terror vs nightmare: Night wakings of this nature are generally due to one of two issues. If a kid wakes up crying or seems to be struggling & whimpering & wakens immediately to light touch, they are having a nightmare. Take as prescribed: As the steroid is being inhaled and working directly in the lungs, systemic side-effects are rare. Inhaled steroids have not been associated with sleep disruption, dependence or shaking. There are case reports of aggression or agitation after use but again, very rare. Ativan (lorazepam) and melatonin: If you are on a regular dose of ativan, (lorazepam) the last dose should be taken at bedtime, otherwise you will experience rebound insomnia in the middle of the night.
