What could cause bouts of hand and arm numbness and loss of muscle control?

What could cause bouts of hand and arm numbness and loss of muscle control?

Impingements: Intermittent nerve compression can cause. Pinching occurs at costoclavicular dimension, true thoracic outlet. Raising arm unconsciously during sleep causes this space to close by a few millimeters, pinching main nerve ; artery to arm. Ulnar parasthesias (crawly tingling feelings) occur in pinky side of hand. This dynamic is called thoracic outlet syndrome (tos). See my discussion at quora. Com.

Cause of Rt arm numbness for a week; & now complete loss of feeling in Rt hand? (Past Diag: Cervical Spurs Deforming Spinal Cord, Denervation, Chiari)

Send us a question: There is no question submitted, but just a statement. If a person already has a chronic neurological problem, then symptoms may not be as urgent... but the person should contact her neurologist. If one has new, unexpected neurological symptoms, then one can be evaluated at an emergency room, unless her neurologist is available at the same time. Please submit a question; ask what you wish to know.

Can pins and needles, numbness in arms and hands, when asleep be a sign of cancer? Also get occasionally pins

Can pins and needles, numbness in arms and hands, when asleep be a sign of cancer? Also get occasionally pins

Not really: If it is happening while asleep, I do not know how you feel those experiences. In any case if this is not happening all the time particularly while awake, it is most likely some benign process. Even if it is happening all the time it is sign of what we call peripheral neuropathy which is caused by multiple condition. Diabetes is by far the most common cause

Get another opinion: Your symptoms sound like they are more related to your neck, possibly a pinched nerve or irritation. Could be carpal tunnel or other non-muscular problem. I would get a second opinion or ask for referral to a specialist--like a neurologist.

Tinglings, numbness in arms. Fatigue and dizzyness. Hands pronation in mingazzini1, asymmetrical smile, abnormal"tandem gait"are pathologic due to obesity?

No: What you are describing certainly is not related to obesity alone and is definitely not normal. You need to see a neurologist as soon as possible and probably an MRI of the brain among other tests to establish the diagnosis.

I have arm numbness and tingling in my left arm but also sometimes my right arm. My hand also feels like it wants to cripple up. I'm only 26 years old.

Arm numbness: Numbness in the arms often occurs from sleeping with the arms bent or working in a job with a lot of repetition. Other frequent causes include spinal stenosis or compression of the spinal cord. Diabetes, low B12 levels, and low thyroid function are common causes too. A neurological evaluation and a nerve conduction test can identify the cause of the numbness.

Severe arm and hand tingling like electric shock when I tilt my head back Also neck pain arm numbness?

Radiculopathy: It sounds like a disc has herniated in your neck or some other issues closing off the opening your nerve roots run through to exit the cervical spine. These are classic symptoms and I recommend seeing a physician sooner than later to identify if there is anything emergent or surgical necessity to avoid arm paralysis. You may not need anything but a Medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pack, but get checked to be sure.

How long? One side?: If this is on one side & started suddenly you should get it checked urgently http://www. Stroke. Org. Nz/See-a-Stroke-FAST If the symptoms have been coming on slowly (days-weeks), this could be a nerve problem in the neck http://www. Spine-health. Pain in right shoulder & down right arm, Numbness in thumb too.

Pain in right shoulder & down right arm, Numbness in thumb too.

Neck problem: This likely a result of the nerve that goes to your arm being pinched in your neck either by a bad disc or a muscle spasm. Ibuprofen is the first line of treatment and evaluation by your physician to make sure there is nothing else going on.

Pain in lower back and up my right arm. Numbness in my right arm tingling in my thumb pointer and middle finger. What do I do?

See your doc: The low back is not related to the right arm. The arm is most likely a disk herniation at C5-6 and or C6-7 on the right. It can be treated with traction, medication and surgery as a last resort. You can also try injections.

I'm experiencing left leg and arm numbness, extreme discomfort + tingling in the pinky and ring finger for a year, could it be ulnar nerve neuropathy?

Partly ulnar nerve: The leg symptoms could not be caused by an ulnar nerve condition, but the finger symptoms could be. You may wish to have nerve conduction testing to help confirm the diagnosis. Http://www. Neurocuro. Com/peripheral-nerve-entrapment/
