What causes migraine type headache with neck pain and nausea?

What causes migraine type headache with neck pain and nausea?

Convergence: Because the nerves in the neck connect with the nerves in the head at the base of the brain, painful information can be sent to the neck when the head hurts. This is known as pain referral. This does not mean there is a probllem in the neck. This is also why the sinuses often hurt with migraine headaches. It is not a sinus problem, just excited nerves from the headache. ...Read more

When I have migraine one side on my neck hurts towards the front and I get really lightheaded. No headache though. What causes the neck pain?

Associated migraine: The neck pain may well be part of the migraine process. It may or may not involve the neck and musculature of the neck. It many times is only in the head area but not uncommonly does involve the neck. The treatment of the migraine is the major item and the neck pain should resolve as well. What causes an unforseen migraine with nausea, weakness, and disorientation? I've also been experiencing growing sinus pressure & neck pain for weeks.

What causes an unforseen migraine with nausea, weakness, and disorientation? I've also been experiencing growing sinus pressure & neck pain for weeks.

"Unforseen?": Don't really know what "unforseen" means here. Nausea, generalized weakness & mild confusion can be associated with migraine. Don't know about "sinus pressure." All those dopey people who say they've got "sinus"? 99% of them don't. "Sinus" is a relic of the Dristan era. Pressure in your head & neck pain can also happen with migraine, but it's not "sinus" pressure. What does "unforseen" mean? ...Read more

Migraine type headache, eye socket pain, temple pain, neck pain, and blurry vision all on the left side. Is this an emergency?

It may be bad, but: Bad is not the same as emergency - try to find a good headache specialist in your area. Yiur GP might refer or even a Univ Hospital directory or drug store may have referrals. ERs are full of trauma and possible contagion - if you need it, they are life saving. If not, go to a less stressful place. Here, Dr Dariush Saghafi is an expert and there are others - he's a gem. ...Read more

Can a migraine cause tooth pain? Severe headache, neck pain, sensitivity to light, tooth ache, feeling lightheaded

Can a migraine cause tooth pain? Severe headache, neck pain, sensitivity to light, tooth ache, feeling lightheaded

Yes, but: It is just as likely, or more, that the tooth has caused the other distress. See your dentist if this has happened before or if it continues past a normal 'migraine' for you. Migraines are a very specific thing and don't usually impact teeth or jaw. Rather the temple(s) are most common. Have a dental exam. Best! ...Read more

Evaluate Neck: If you are not improving have your doctor order a cervical spine mri. Doc should worry: You are correct to be alarmed by these headaches. Failure to be aggressive with migraines will lead to chronic headache disorders. If you have not seen a neurologist who specializes in headaches, then do so asap. Migraines are not only painful but cause brain injury. You need a full work up including your dental bite and sinus exam. Triggers need ID and both prevention and ablation therapy. ...Read more
