I hit my hand, and now my 4 fingers are swollen, and bruised. What is the cause? Does low iron cause this?
Hurt, not iron: If you hit your hand hard enough to cause bleeding inside, the blood will follow gravity and so will the bruise. Fingers may swell also. Not related to iron levels. Elevate your hand, wrap it with ace and wrap fingers with Coban if needed. Don't use ice or NSAID's. Apply cream or jell with Arnica in it. For marketing reasons, many issues which could be relevant (if severe enough) are promoted as primary cause; "cures". ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My Hb count is very high I.e.17.4 and RBC count is also 6.4 million but the iron count is low .i.e. 33. What are the possible causes?
History is key: If you've been like this all your life, this may be your normal value and need not be a concern. If you tend to turn blue or have poorer exercise tolerance than your peers, you may have a right-to-left shunt in heart or lungs that's been missed. You may have a minor Hgb or receptor mutation. I trust you're not on anabolic steroids. The Hgb is high-normal for a guy in my book. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
