Sedentary lifestyle?: If your doctor has ruled out the many causes of joint pain; including a thorough workup for autoimmune, rheumatologic including Osteoarthritis, Fibromylalgia infectious disesase causes like Lyme, Dengue fever to name a few; metabolic causes Vitamin D deficiency, Cancer etc... which I assume they have. Then maybe it is time to start moving those joints and stretching the muscles improve function ...Read more

Many things: Systemic inflammation (acute infection, autoinflammatory diseases such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis), stress (emotional or physical), hypersensitivity to pain or abnormal pain suppression pathways (fibromyalgia), joint abnormalities (connective tissue diseases such an Marfan syndrome or Ehler-Danlos syndrome), blood disorders (anemia, leukemia) and many more.
