Sleep apnea?: There is nothing I've heard regarding a connection w/ autism, but hiccups during sleep have been related to the breathing pattern that can occur in sleep apnea. Hiccups are caused by involuntary movements of the diaphragm which might be set off by the disturbed breath rhythms. Go to the ER: The effect of xanax goes away quickly; it is only in you for a few hours. Vomiting and difficulty walking is at least a sign of dehydration, but can also be a sign of more serious things. I would encourage him to be seen by his doctor or go to the er as soon as possible. ...Read more
